ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
The aim of The Baserncnt Project is to provide support services for homeless and potentially homeless young people
aged 25 and under. aD inte￿1 part of these s¢rvices is to focus on homeless Pfmtion. At the 31st March 2024 the
Bas¢meDt Project was made up of two illterlinking projects.. The Basement Drop-in Ser4icc and the Floatitig Support
Service. although there is an overlap and slaff work acr055 both projeGts. We have also opened Drop-in service5 in other
areas of Worcestershire namely; Eyesha￿ Kidderniinster, Malvern and worte￿[ShIrC City. Up until 31 March 2012.
we also rdn & Priv8tc T¢zw]cy &hem¢. We have and will CQDlinuc to work in partDershw with asencies (StatytQry•
blic Sector. Voluntary and Private Sector) relevant to supporting young people across Worcestershire. We have also
developed a Mediation and Confiicl Resolution seTrices lo supwrt our bomeles$ prevention agenda and recentty added
a new service c￿ed Application Station which suppoffs young p¢ople with th¢ir traDsitiOn into th¢ workplace or
Icarnlng enviroDment.
The Basement Drop4n st￿¢¢ Our main Drop-in is open every weekday and is stsffed by tsvo quahfied youth workers
and trnitied volulltrer6 and 15 well used by local young people. In the f￿1 full year w¢ wcre open in 2006. thcre were
well over 400 visits during the year and in the year to 31 March 2024 wc wried out over 4,190 intrrvention& througlL
face to face meetings, telephone ￿nVerSations. live chat; video calls: messages: andlor advocating on bchalf of the
youn8 persou. The Basement PTOj¢Gt 15 a place whcre a youn8 persoD can ac¢¢ss someone to talk to, enablin8 them to
have th¢ support they need to deal with their primary issues surrounding housing and homelessness and other issues that
may be hindering their ability to move forward. We can offer meth'ation and advocaGy should the youn8 person f¢¢1 that
is appropriate.
The B&wnent Project cwj offcr emergency foO￿t011¢ty parcels, which are invaluable to our ¢lients. Thi5 year due to
scveral small pots of funding provided through Bromsgrove District Council, NFU mutual and the generosity of the local
communities, we were able to offer more substsntial food parcels to our serw¢ usen. W¢ bkve provided over 530 food
Parcels to our clients and their familic5 this year, including 200 food parcels lo othcr local familie5 who were in nee(L In
addition. when funding is available we help young peoplc to purchas¢ other essential items 10 help them set up aDd we
Off￿ J pro8rallll￿ of work%hops throughou¢ the year. which njn alongsidc th¢ Dropiti 8¢rvic¢. These iJJ¢lude
ernployabiiity, lifr skills training, healthy eatitig, sclf*steem, CODfidenc¢ building, budget maDag¢m¢nt aod cooking on
bud8et. All workshops are designed to be'young person fri¢ndll and are delivered in a relaxe4 w¢lcomin8 atmosphere.
The Basement Project recruits And trains voluotccrs to work a]OD8side our Youtb Support Workers and help us d¢iiver
our widcT 5ervi¢es. 202312024 bas been a very su¢¢essful year in recTuiting new vohJnte¢rs with a wide range of valuablc
skills that will help young p¢oplc in the future as well as contributmg to the development of The Basement Project
aGTOSS Worcestershire.
We have benefilted from a five yeu continuation fjjnding by The National Cornrnunity Lottery Fund which commenced
in April 2023 which was aligned to our five year strategy. This fi￿dIng combined with the Brornsgrove District Council
fimdin& local business and individu￿ giving fonns the wre of our overall income.
In addilion we submit a vDriety of applicatio￿ to support our existin8 work and futttye projects as required and as set out
in ow Strate&¢ Pian. We exp¢¢t to identify fimds from 8TJnts, trust fillid8 and possible teDdering for contracts,
The FI￿￿n% Support part of the project is partly funded through a Commission￿ se￿1¢e with Worcestershire Children
First (WCF) to support care leavers specifi¢ally and grants from other sowc¢s in¢luding Notional I￿rtery Community
Fwid for non cate leaveTh who need support. We havc th¢ capacity for around 80 individual young people (clients) to
have a dedicated support worker who will meel on a regular basis to help them manage the transition io independent
living. This 5UPPQrt is deliv¢red through dire¢L one to one meetings. telephon¢ calls and mes$a84 and via viru￿1
methods.
W¢ subcontract to Redditsh Nightstop to ￿Ver th¢ Redth'tsh district and we cover the rest of the Gowity. Other funding
