Louise Hamilton Tntst (Reg Number 1106129) Annual Report Year Ending 30 the September 2021 As we continue to fimd raise to ablish an end of life ce b¢dd¢d Unit for the lo are4 we endeavour to engage with the public at every opportunity to gauge the needs of local patients and carers as well as family members. We know that having such a facility close by would alleviate much of the distress and pressure these people fmd them selves under, especially when at such a time, they do not always wish to travel too far frorn their home. In order to realise our aim the Tnths h&8 continued to liaise with various other b)dies with a view to eventually joinin8 fottes to WO collectively and collaboratively to establtsh a palliative and end of life we bedd unit for this are& We have engaged in telephone meetings and face to face meetings where )ssIble to move things forward. We understand only too well that time is important in these issues and the sooner we are able to work 108ether the quicker we will see our dream become a reality, benefitin8 both patients and their families alike. Once again I became Involv in many palliative and end of life care initialiv¢s. as this helps to keep us abreast of imp)rtant hospice and hospital related issues. I worked with research¢rs from Addenbr(K)ks Hospital and the Universkty of East An81ia covering projects from the impad of the Covid 19 Pandemi¢ on bereavement Ca to palliative and end of life care in Cambrid8e. The work also involved lookin8 into providing interventions for patients suffering from severe breathlessness to sensitive and important concerns surroundin8 anticipatory prescribin8. All of this provides a true insight into why a palliative and end of life care bedded unxt is so essential for the pwple of GTeat Yarmouth and Waveney. On behalf of the tnistees may I say that we have experienced yet another difficult year with Covid which impacted on the ability to trade in our Charity Shop. Whilst we had been able to maintain a healthy trading balance prior to lockdown we saw our tradin8 come to an abrupt halt during this difficult time. It took some time to build business back up as customers were often reluctsnt to venture out for fear of infection. As the shop forn]s our main source of income at this time every effort was made via Face Ix)ok or by distsibuting leafiets to encourage the public to return. The shop often fornJs a haven for lonely or bereaved people who can drop in for a coffee or a chaL so the shop closure also impacted on these individuals" thereforE w¢ endeavoured to keep in contact by telephone or by dropping off flowers when appropriaty thus helping to boost their morale. The Tn will endeavour to work hazd in the coming year to forge a solid lationshIp with other charitable Orlsa110ns to ensu that the people of this area can lxnefit from a bedded unit that they so richly deserve.
