Statements of Trustees
The Charities Act 2006 and the Companies Act of 2006 require the Trustees to keep proper books of account with respect to the affairs of the Charity, and to prepare statements of account for each accounting period consisting of a statement of financial activities and a balance sheet. The Trustees are also responsible for safeguarding the Company /Charity's assets and hence for taking the responsible steps for prevention and detection of error, fraud and other irregularities.

Activities
The Charitable Company was incorporated on 27[th] November 2003 and commenced trading on 1[st] December 2004. The activity of Sunderland Volunteer Life Brigade is the provision of assistance to H M Coastguard in saving lives by means of coastal search, coastwatch and other such forms of rescue that can be given within the Sunderland sector of H.M.Coastguard and any other area that H.M. Coastguard directs.
Financial Outcome

The Trustees acknowledge their responsibility for complying with the requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records for the preparation of the accounts.
These accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime.

1) Accounting Policies
1 These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with:

Financial Reporting Standards for Smaller Entities (April 2008) and

Accounting and Reporting by Charities - Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP 2005) and

The Charities Act 2011

2 Some elements of income or expenditure for the year related to restricted projects, all such items are identified in the notes as restricted. All other items being of unrestricted nature. All items, restricted and unrestricted, relate to the funds of the Company / Charity.

3 The depreciation of the motor vehicle and rescue equipment etc., owned by the Company / Charity is calculated on a write down basis over the course of their expected lives. Depreciation is calculated at 25% of written down value per annum in respect of the vehicle and 25% in respect other assets.

4 The Company / Charity owns memorabilia transferred from Sunderland Volunteer Life Brigade Registered Charity 1041849 most of which was donated to that Charity and is not reflected in the accounts.

Fundraising Activities
Other income from various efforts is derived from a substantial number of sources and is the result of efforts made by members and supporters. The Trustees place on record their appreciation to all who have given their time, skills and efforts.

3 The depreciation of the motor vehicle and rescue equipment etc., owned by the Company / Charity is calculated on a write down basis over the course of their expected lives. Depreciation is calculated at 25% of written down value per annum in respect of the vehicle and 25% in respect other assets.

4 The Company / Charity owns memorabilia transferred from Sunderland Volunteer Life Brigade Registered Charity 1041849 most of which was donated to that Charity and is not reflected in the accounts.
