Upkeep and improvement of the church's buildings and facilities for Ihe benefit of all users.
Financial support for specific overseas mission work,

The Iruslees havc had duc rcgard lo the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit when exercising any powers or
dulles 10 which Ihe guidance is relevant.
Volunteers
The church would not be able to provide the range and number of groups and activities that it offers without the work of
dedicated team of volunteers.
Volunteers are drawn from those who attend Ihe Church, and are subjecl lo Ihe appropriate checks when working wilh the
vulnerable elderly or children and young people,

2022. Sincc Novembcr 2022, Ihe leaching each Sunday moining has been recoi'ded and madc available on Ihc church's
YouTube channel.

Aroiind 4 limes a year the Sunday morning service takes the forni of 'Breakfasi Church,. a morc infornial servic¢ where
breakfast Is served at tables and Ihere is opportunity for people io socialise. This is a great opportunity to bring along friends
and neighbours, Families that attend Footprints loddler group are encouraged lo join.
Some church aii¢nd¢es do nol have internet access and wc have used Icllers and telephonc calls lo kcep them updated.
Pastoral visits are made to people in need.
The church appointed a temporary P8sloral Assistant to cover the one-year period of one of the Paslorfs adoption leave. Parl
of the aim of this post was to develop a Pastoral Suppori Teain and this work was coinpleied. The team completed
safeguarding and other ITaining. and the Icam members are regularly en8aged in visits and support for church attendees and
oihers in need.
Discipleship Groups continue io meei regularly midweek lo encourase one another, study hnd prdy.
Monday Fellowship is a Broup that meets on Monday afternoons for an informal servi¢e with hyrnn singing and a talk and is
appreciated by older members of the community.
Monthly prayei. meeiings lake place on Wednesday evenings.
Weekly Sunday evening prayer meetings werc introduced in June 2023 and are on80ing.
Volunteer church members children's and youth 8TOUPS during Sunday morning services.
In March 2023, the chui'ch ¢niered into a temporary agreemenl wilh Ihe organisation Dorsel Youth for Christ, for them to
provide a part-time youll) worker lo work with young p¢ople in the 14-18 age range. encouraging them in iheir faith and
providing a weekday evening discipleship group. This agreement ended in March 2024 and the group is now run by
volunleers.
The annual Halloween alternaiive 'Li8hi part￿ for local children was a greai success and well all¢nded.
Footprint5, our paTenilcarer, and toddler group continues lo allraci pleniy of families and is a great comiiiunity resource.
The 'Open the Book, team provides a5￿mbl1eS for fhe loral primary schools, sharing stories from the Bible. This team is
partnership wilh oiher churches In the town.
Ai Christmas we wei'e able 10 have a number of In-person cvenls, including 'Carols on Ihe Green. an open-air service, which
was aiiended by a good number of people from the coinmiinily.
The annual Christingle service on Christmas Eve has become a focal point for many local fainilies wilh younger children.
This year 50 children attended with their families.
The Carol Sei'vice was advertised locally and well atlended by visitors as well as regular attende1%

The church works cooperalivcly with other local chui'ches in supporling thc local Food Bank, which also offcrs dcbt advicc
and signposting to oihcr services. The Food Bank continues lo be a viial resource for thc local community.
The church is designated as a Dcmentia Fricndly Church.

lighiing system.
Our Pahlors served as Chaplains io the iown Mayor for rhe yeAf up lo May and are now serving as Chaplains 10 Ihe lo¢al
Royal British Legion. They have been involvcd in local Reineinbrance and oiher Civic services during the year.
This year. thc church continued to support a numbei. of overseas missions, includin8:
A Wycliffe Bible Translators, project in Uganda, supporting Bible translation and literacy work, pastor training inilialives
and d¢velopineni work, particularly skills-based training.
Music for Life, a chariiy operating mainly in East Africa, providing educaiion and health care lo children in East African
countries.
The B¢ih¢sda Proje¢1 in Tamil Nadu, India, a ¢hariiy which provid￿ a school, and a children's hostel.
The Church Mission Society in Lebanon uniil July 2023.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Finaneial position
The finan¢ial slalements show a net deficit for the year of £6,686 12023., £1,786) The principal source of incoine is
voluntary income accounting for approximately 93'/o of the Church's incom¢. The Trustees arc continuing their slrale8y of
deploying all net incoming resources 10 the ¢haritable aims of the Church.
This figure also includes th¢ Gift Aid which, as a registered charity, the Church is able io claim on a large pei'cenlage of this
voluniary incoine.
The largest expenditure is on employees, remuneration £78,424 (2023: £79,558), which accounls for 5490 of total
expendilure.
In the year grants totallin8 £27,27012023.. £26,180) were made lo Individi￿lS and institutions in accordance with Ihe aims of
the Church.
other expendilure included the ongoing cosls of admini5tralion, utilities, and routine mainlenance on the Church buildtng,
otrice and flal.

The Church Is funded almost enlii'ely from voluntary giving - donaiions from Church members and others who attend
services.

expenditure, which we have been able to achieve Ihroughoul Ihc year. This is lo ensure essenlial costs, including staff
sa12ries, can be paid in Ihc cvcnt Of unfurcscLn changes lo Ihe Church's incom¢. The charity defines free re5eives as general
unresiricied funds less unrestricied tangible fixed assets. At the year endcd 31 March 2024 free reserv¢5 totalled £22,408
(2023: £68.152).

The Church is an indepcndcnt chiirch wilh no dcnominational affiliations.
Recruitment and appolntment of new trustees
Trustees are nominaled by existing trustees and elccled by members.
Ncw Truslccs are given basic training for executing their dutie5 and responsibililies within the charitable company. Care is
taken lo ensure that each Tiu&lee receivc5 a full briefing on the aims and objeclives of the Church (Company) and is
personally commitied 10 Ihcm.
Organlsgtlonal structure
The Trustees have the responsibility lo ensure that Ihe Church is working in accordance with and etTecliv¢ly in pursuit of ils
staled aims and objects. Tliey ensure all relevant policies are in place and full eompliance of the Chui'ch with these policies
and Current legislation. le.g. Health and Safely, Safeguarding, Equal Opponuniiies, Fire and Insurance etc.) Risks of
operating, in relation to these policies, are reviewed annually towards the end of Ihe financial year and whenever necessary,
amendments are insligated.
The Trustees ensur¢ that accounts are kepi, independently reviewed and subinitted to Coinpanie5 House and the Charities
Commission in accordance wilh Ihe requirements of each. The independently reviewed annual accounts are also presenled to
the chU￿h membership ai the Annual General Meeting in the autumn (nonnally Novcmber).
The praeiical ouiworking of the aims and objecls of the Church is delegated by Ihe Chur¢h Trusiees io the Members of that
body who are also Church Leaders. Thc Chureh Leaders are appointed by the membership of the Church. Each one of the
Church Leaders, of which there have been three in the period, has responsibility for overseeing specific aspects of tlie
Church's Ininislry,

The Church is an independent church with no denominational affiliations.
The church's two pastors, a llvdrried couple. resigned in mid-Mar¢h 2024. Th¢ charily Irustees are confident that the work of
the chui'ch can cnnlinue until a new pasior is reeruiied. Two new Trustees were co-opted in April 2024 to strengthen Ihe
team.

A Irdnsfcr has occui'rcd in the year from the General fund lo the Building Survcy designated fund.
A iransfer lias been made in the year from the Gencral fund to the DYFC Christinas 2023 restricted fund to covcr
for Ihe overspend during the year. This resulted due lo a gift aid debtor rccognised al the year end therefore this
transfer will be reversed in Ihe following year end upon receipt of ihe income.

RELATED PARTY DISCLOSURES
During the ycar ended 31 Mai'ch 2024, six trustees (2023 81 contributed amounts lolalling £15.550 in donated
funds wiihout condiiions12023 - £16.250).
In Ihe prior year, S Alfazema, the wife of trustee M Alfazema, received remuneration (including employer
conlribulions} lolalling £3,454 for her role as Director of Children and Youih Minislry up until M Alfazema retired
as a trustee on 31 sl May 2022.
