deciding what activities the charity should undertake. The trustees consider that they have acted in the public benefit.
We run youth club sessions every Friday for children ages 5-15 in the local community.
-
Arts & crafts – painting, hama beads, crafting, sewing, drawing among others often with seasonal themes
-
Disco room – dancing, singing and party games
-
Sports such as football, badminton and sports day type activities in the summer months
-
Game room – table football, giant Tetris, noughts & crosses, hoopla and a dedicated Lego station
-
doctors, vets, teachers etc.
-
Computer room with Wii and various computer game systems
We charge a nominal fee per session to help with operating costs and run an “at cost” tuck shop so we pass on the lower prices to our members and not look to generate a profit from this.
We hold two free parties a year for our members to attend, one at Halloween and one at Christmas.
On average our Friday sessions attract between 20 to 35 attendees depending on the time of year and we have a number of legacy members who’s parents also attended as Children.
outgrow our membership age.
Financial Review
of our operating costs for the next two years. This grant for £19,919 led to us having an inflated income in this year’s accounts and pushing us over the threshold to require independent account examination.
In terms of other income in the year we earned £2,478 from our session attendance fees and £2,389.35 from the operation of our tuck shop. We continued to allow both the Council run group, Aiming High, and the Swindon Downs Syndrome Group use our facilities for a nominal fee towards costs and this brought in £1,320 during the year.
Toothill Farmhouse, Bodiam Drive, Toothill, Swindon SN5 8BE Charity Number 1105939
We have seen continuing increases in the cost of our utilities and this will be monitored for future grant requests.
Our total expenditure for the year was £15,605.
During the year we had expenditure from a grant received from Nationwide at the end of the previous financial year. This has caused our expenses to look higher because the income was in the previous year but the expenditure in this year. The grant for £2,661 was for the creation of a playhouse and role play area, which was successfully built in the summer of 2024 with the help of a number of volunteers and has proved very popular with our members.
At the year end we held a current account balance of £506.57 and a reserve account balance of £15,400.62. The bulk of the reserve account holding is from the 2 year grant of which half of the expenditure will fall into the next financial year.
Our free reserves at 31.3.25 are £600. This is in line with our policy to hold a low level of free reserves as the charity has minimal overheads.
Declaration
