This report covers the work of The Kenya Trust (TKT) from 6[th] April 2023 5th April 2024. During this year there was an income of £34951 as well as a surplus from 2022/2023 £16530. Total expenditure was £48100 of which £2521 was for general expenses. £40990 was spent on the current projects in Kenya and £4589 in freight and repair charges for instruments shipped to Kenya. The projects started late 2021 at Muthanthara Secondary and Primary Schools were finally completed. Two projects were taken on and completed. £8330 was used to purchase equipment at Chombeli where a workshop has been set up to train people in a variety of useful skills to enabling them to no longer live on the streets. £32660 was enabled Chekonbero School for the deaf to build a new classroom for early years children, new security fencing and other vital supplies. One individual, large donation of £12000 was made towards the Chekombero project.

At the end of the financial year there was £3381 in TKT account. This was below the normal balance of no less than £5000 but the trustees decided to allow the overspend in order that the Chekombero project could be completed.

Fund Raising – Fund raising activities included 4 concerts, sponsored events and sale of donated instruments and CDs. Finding ways to raise funds is always a problem but, somehow, TKT trustees usually find a way.

New Trustee – Ian Loxley, who lived in Kenya as a boy, became a trustee in March 2024. Ian has visited Kenya with trustees to assist in music training activities as well as holding concerts at his former church where he was the minister. Now that he has retired from Salvation Army ministry he accepted TKT’s invitation to join the board of trustees. He is already proving that to be a good decision.
