**STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT**
## **Board of Trustees**
The Board of Trustees sets our future aims and priorities focusing on strategic planning and governance and also evaluates our performance and progress in our work to alleviate poverty and suffering.
The Board of Trustees appraises the Senior Management Team and can make appointments to it as well as dismissals. The Board of Trustees also make sure that we satisfy the regulatory requirements on us as a charity and works with key stakeholders.
## **Recruiting and Appointing Trustees**
All our trustees are volunteer, chosen because they all have the diverse range of skills, knowledge and experience that we need to respond to the challenges of today. Stakeholders and partners may nominate trustees and sometimes we will make a personal approach to potential candidates.
## **Governing document**
Bismillah Aid refers to the charity incorporated organisation with a governing document known as CIO constitution by Registration originally adopted on 10 December 2003 as amended 26 July 2004.
## **Responsibilities of Trustees**
The annual report and financial statements are prepared according to the relevant law and approved by the trustees.
The trustees keep adequate accounting records and they show and explain our transactions. The records also disclose our financial position with reasonable accuracy at any time and enable trustees to ensure that the financial statements comply with Charity Commission Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) 2015.
## **Grant Making Policies**
We provide grants to projects if the request meets our charitable objectives and criteria. Project grant making is managed according to a designated process, which is documented in our Operational Risk-Management Framework. We aim to treat all grant applications professionally, equally and fairly. We make the final decision as to eligibility to receive a grant, at our discretion.
## **Public Benefit**
We develop strategic plans to make certain that we provide maximum public benefit and achieve our strategic objectives, which fall under purposes defined by the Charity Act 2006.

**OBJECTIVES AND STRATEGIC ACTIVITIES FOR THE BENEFIT**
The objects of the charity are set below:
To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the United Kingdom as well as the rest of the world without distinction of sex, or of political, religious or other opinions by associating with the local authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and training and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objects of improving the quality of life for the said inhabitants and also by relieving poverty and preserve and project good health where necessary to secure the establishment of the community centre and to maintain and manage or to corporate with the statutory organisations, agencies and trusts in the maintenance of our present centre for activities promoted by Bismillah Aid, in furtherance of the above objectives. To promote any charitable purpose for the benefit of the public as the trustees in their absolute discretion think fit.
**To promote health:** safe water, clean hands, and healthy bodies. Dirty water equates to sickness, sickness is time lost, this is reduced, and people can get back to the work of lifting themselves out of poverty.
**To relieve hunger:** access to water leads to food security. With less crop loss, hunger is reduced. Families can feed themselves, reducing living costs.
**To relieve poverty:** water can break the cycle of poverty. The communities we serve are ready to grow, they grow through our help and guidance.
**To provide for wherever there is the most need:** helping the neediest in the quickest time possible, relieving one struggle of many.
## **8 Weeks Development & Nurturing Program**
This short 8 weeks workshop was introduced to help train and build volunteers on their charity skills. It is crucial for our volunteers to develop on themselves so they are aware what their tasks are and are able to carry out some of the charity works. This training consisted of:
- Street collections
- Paperwork
- Organising mini workshops
- Meetings
- Conferences/events
## **British Imam Course**
From giving our names when we are born, to saying the final rights over our bodies at our Janazah (funeral), our Imams are an essential part of every milestone of our lives. As the leader of the community, he is not only tasked with leading the 5 daily prayers, but is responsible for introducing our children to Islam, advising our youth about life’s major decisions, patching up broken marriages

feeding the hungry, guiding the sinner to find absolution, giving hope to the hopeless: all with the
aim of reconnecting everyone back to their Lord.
**In 2019** , Bismillah Aid embarked on a subsidiary project of British Imam, with the aim of supporting our youth, by providing Imams with knowledge of religious, societal, and British values.
A keen interest was expressed from both males and females to enrol on this course. It was decided that Bismillah Aid will allocate funds to hire qualified and experienced teachers with advanced teaching methods for In-person and online classes so the students can gain valuable knowledge and progress rapidly. Thanks to allocated teachers’ commitment and hard work the Course continued, and tremendous progression was made over the year.
**In 2020** , we continued the British Imam Course. Even though, it was a difficult year, and we were disrupted by COVID-19, the classes resumed on an online platform. This project is and was the main focal point project of Bismillah Aid throughout the year and we have achieved progression with our hard work and efforts.
**In 2021** , Classes are still resuming via online. Our young learners are excelling in their studies and are a year closer to becoming a leader to help preach, teach, spread the word of Islam and guiding the community to the straight path. A keen interest is continuing to grow as the young imams go furthermore in their knowledge of religious, societal, and British values.
**In 2022,** as like previous years, these classes are continuously benefitting the young learners and developing & nurturing their skills into becoming better citizens and role models for others in the community. Different to previous, this year normal face-to-face classes were resumed as everything returned back to normal after Covid-19.
## **Zakat**
Our Charities aim and vision is to make world free from poverty based on the principles of the Holy Prophet. In 2022, with the support of all the donors we were able to further support the less fortunate. We were able to provide safe water, clean hands, and healthy bodies. Dirty water equates to sickness, sickness is time lost, this is reduced, and people can get back to the work of lifting themselves out of poverty. We were also able to further provide children education so, when children are free from the task of gathering water, they return to class to educate themselves which soon they will be able to utilize this education to earn and get out of poverty.
## **Jamia Al Karam**
Shaykh Muhammad Imdad – founder principal of Jamia al-Karam said: “Our elders planted date palms and we ate their fruits. If today we do not plant these date palms, from where will our coming generations eat?” The team at Bismillah Aid decided to further their efforts in providing Islamic knowledge for the future generation through Islamic sponsorship and imam training provided at the esteem Jamia Al-Karam. Through these educational initiatives, Bismillah Aid alongside Jamia Al Karam will produce positive results for the British Muslim community. Bismillah Aid strives to acquire unique

place in the hearts and minds of the British Muslim and numerous communities throughout the
country.
## **Peace Conference**
In 2021, Bismillah Aid initiated this conference to unite and remind our attendees how important it is for a Muslim to have true love for our religion and maintain our faith.
With great success in the previous year and several positive feedback from the community. Bismillah aid advanced forward to once again hold a peace conference to help promote the true message of Islam. Furthermore, starting of with how Muslims can better themselves so that we may set an example for the upcoming generation as well as those individuals who are interested in learning about Islam. It is important to promote Islam as a versatile religion and to openly incorporate other cultures and backgrounds to create a cohesive community.
Similar to previous year, Peace conference consisted of various naats being recited, Quranic words from the holy Quran (tilawat) as well as Islamic talks by variety scholars. Finally, food was distributed.
## **Ramadhan Crash Course**
Ramadhan Crash Course was initiated to help our young generation help understand the basic necessities of the holy month of Ramadhan and the celebration of Eid. This course was initiated in March Just before the blessed month of Ramadhan. The purpose of this course was to help the new generation to develop themselves and acknowledge the importance of the Ramadhan celebration. Those students who already know the basic necessities, it is also important to remind them and polish them as it is something that can be forgotten easily by our young pupils.
This Course was presented by Imam Abbas. Below are some of the following topics covered by Imam Abbas:
- What is Ramadhan?
- Blessings of Ramadhan
- Ikthikaf
- Eid ul Fitr
- Tarawee Prayer
## **Ramadhan Food Packages**
Similarly, to last year Bismillah Aid sent out more than meals before the time of iftar (sunset meal) in 2021, when Muslims voluntarily abstain from food during the sacred month of Ramadan. Our mission was to serve meals to a variety of local individuals of various cultures, faiths, and backgrounds. It was

with a purposeful aim of equality and serving individuals within and outside of the Islamic faith. As a
result, Bismillah Aid was welcomed with joy, praise, and prayers.
We give special thanks to Hifsah Iqbal who was able to prepare food packs for us to distribute. Everyone was extremely happy with the quality of the food .
## **Qurbani Project**
Qurbani (Udhiya) is not only a religious duty on Muslims ordained by Allah and practiced by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions, but it is also a wonderful opportunity for Muslims to help their fellow humans who are suffering from abject poverty around the world.
We would like to thank all the generous donors of Bismillah Aid for placing their trust in us to implement their Qurbani this year. We were able to able to carry out the qurbani project through Quba Trust. As a result, just like every year, we were able to feed thousands of vulnerable families around the world on this blessed occasion. Bringing happiness and smiles to the faces of widows struggling to raise their children, old, aged people with disabilities facing hunger and children affected by disasters and wars. We pray Allah SWT rewards you abundantly for your generous donations.

## **Financial Review**
The charity received sum of **£40,618** in donations from various sources.
The charity does not have any reserve policy.
The funds are in deficit by **£3,641** at the balance sheet.
No funds are in surplus at the balance sheet.

I report on the accounts of the charity named **Bismillah Aid** for the period 01[st] January 2022 to 31[st] December 2022 set out below.
## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**
The charity’s trustees responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for the period (under Section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act)) and that an independent examination is required.
Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to:
- Examine the accounts
- Follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under Section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act); and
- To state weather particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of the independent examiner’s report**
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
