Status

JUMP Children’s Charity was constituted on the 1[st] March 2004 and registered as a charity on 14[th] August 2004

Objectives

The Charity’s objects have been amended in recent years to reflect the growing areas of work that we are undertaking to develop a more sustainable model of support for children and families It was agreed by the Board of Trustees that we would incorporate these activities into our objectives to be developed in consultation with the children and families whom we support. A program of bi monthly events have taken place during this reporting period managed by our Community Development Manager. This is the first employed role for JUMP Children’s Charity that has been supported by funding from the Steve Morgan Foundation and Cheshire Community Foundation

The background to JUMP and how we deliver public benefit

JUMP was inspired by the short life of Jacob Hawthorn from Warrington, who lived to the age of three with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. Following his passing, Jacob’s family found huge comfort in the memories they had created through photography and video; and as such, JUMP was founded in 2004

JUMP is a registered Children's Charity who deliver a unique complementary service to families with children with life limiting and terminal illnesses, by arranging professional photography to capture everlasting memories, which are presented in beautiful personal Memory Books and Film. We focus on capturing memories that matter most and are of special occasions or favourite things and are important to the child and their family

Creating memories with JUMP removes a child with a life limiting illness, from the day to day and often isolated routine of their challenging lives. Shifting focus from treatment, to creating strong relationships with family and peers. Memory making is focused on smiles, it’s about celebrating moments with people that matter most.

Our service supports children in most local authority areas in the North West of England and North Wales

Review of developments, activities and achievements

The role of Memory Coordinator has been replaced by the role of Community Development Manager to reflect the work that the charity is now doing to provide some ongoing support to children and their families

This work is focusing on providing a range of events both live and digitally to offer social opportunities to children and their families. At these events families will be offered a range of information about other services that could be of benefit to them

Following the Covid-19 Pandemic, when a range of Digital Events were provided online working in partnership with Claire House Children’s Hospice our live events program is now well established

Our services make a real difference to children and their families. The benefits that JUMP provides positively impacts on the siblings of these children, whose lifestyles are opportunities are often restricted by their brother or sister’s health condition often in a way that can cause mental stress and fear about what is ahead. Creating the Memory Books helps the children to support their brother or sister in a positive way and to grieve and remember them with special memories when they have passed away.

Plans for the future

We will develop the work of our Community Development Manager as we aim to sustain this role to expand the activities and opportunities at our live events and on our website which be developed we will provide positive links to other services and support for the children and their families

We will continue to increase the number of children we provide our services for if funding is raised and we will offer much closer support and communication to engage with the children and their families to enable them to take a part in our Group Memory days and benefit from our partnerships with other charities.

Our Strategic Plan and Fundraising Strategy will be reviewed with the aim of reaching out to a much wider range of funders and potential donors as well as aiming to continue to increase the numbers and diversity of Trustee members on our Board and the number of volunteers who support us.

Our communication with children and families will be developed to enable improved feedback and their involvement with the continued development of our services

The accounts as set out on page 7 summarize the transactions of the charity during the financial year ending 31 March 2022

Our baby Isaac had a very difficult start in life, he was only discharged from hopsital a few days before his first birthday. As a family we had missed on on many firsts and Isaac has complex medical needs that means one size fits all photoshoots were too daunting. Jump made sure we didnt miss out on celebrating Isaac's first birthday and capturing that moment. The photographs are beautiful, more than pictures they have captured moments, they quickly understood Isaac's needs and how to make him smile and laugh, he had the most enjoyable day and so did we and we have a lovely photo book we will cherish for ever. Thank you Jump!

I S's Mum:

Jump have supported us since Ivy was 6 months old where we had a memorable photo shoot. They made us feel welcome from day one and made Ivy feel happy and content. We have been lucky to be invited to the special memory days which both children love and we like that Ivy’s brother can get involved as well. Jump has become like a family and all the volunteers and staff take a real interest in the children and how they are doing.

J's Mum:

Forever grateful for Kate coming and taking photos for us at Royal Oldham hospital. Eight years on and I still cherish the photos that we have, without these we wouldn’t have any professional photos of our son Jimmy. I particularly love the photos of us finally getting to have a cuddle with him. These photos are absolutely priceless.

Report to the trustees/ Charity Name J-U-M-P members of On accounts for the year 31/03/2022 Charity no 1105437 ended (if any) Set out on pages 1 - 3 (remember to include the page numbers of additional sheets) I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/03/2021.

Responsibilities and basis As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the of report accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have
examiner's statement come to my attention in connection with the examination (other than that disclosed below *) which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:
the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
