The trustees of JUMP Children’s Charity present their annual report for the year ended 31 March 2021
## **Trustees**
All our Trustees were re-elected for a further term of office at our AGM held digitally on zoom on March 2[nd] 2021 and are as follows

## **Status**
JUMP Children’s Charity was constituted on the 1[st] March 2004 and registered as a charity on 14[th] August 2004
## **Objectives**
The Charity’s objects were amended during the last annual reporting period to reflect the 3 year Strategy developed in 2019 which highlighted the benefits of the face to face live events that JUMP has been providing over the past several years. It was agreed by the Board of Trustees that we would incorporate these activities into our objectives to be developed in consultation with the children and families whom we support. Since this change to our objectives we have been in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic and live events were put on hold. We developed a range of digital events to engage with children and families and these will remain a regular feature as we come out of the Pandemic
## **The background to JUMP and how we deliver public benefit**
JUMP was inspired by the short life of Jacob Hawthorn from Warrington, who lived to the age of three with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. Following his passing, Jacob’s family found huge comfort in the memories they had created through photography and video; and as such, JUMP was founded in 2004
JUMP is a registered Children's Charity who deliver a unique complementary service to families with children with life limiting and terminal illnesses, by arranging professional photography to capture everlasting memories, which are presented in beautiful personal Memory Books and Film. We focus on capturing memories that matter most and are of special occasions or favourite things and are important to the child and their family

Creating memories with JUMP removes a child with a life limiting illness, from the day to day and often isolated routine of their challenging lives. Shifting focus from treatment, to creating strong relationships with family and peers. Memory making is focused on smiles, it’s about celebrating moments with people that matter most.
Our service supports children in most local authority areas in the North West of England and North Wales
## **Review of developments, activities and achievements**
The role of Memory Coordinator has been replaced by the role of Community Development Manager to reflect the work that the charity is now doing to provide some ongoing support to children and their families
This work is focusing on providing a range of events both live and digitally to offer social opportunities to children and their families. At these events families will be offered a range of information about other services that could be of benefit to them
During this period of reporting the shift to an increase in live events has been restricted by the Covid-19 Pandemic, however a range of Digital Events working in partnership with Claire House Children’s Hospice have taken place and have been very well received by children and families and other professionals and organisations who make referrals to our services
Despite the pandemic with an enhanced risk assessment processes and with the full backing of our Insurers we have still delivered personal memory shoots for 45 children and their families and so although the numbers are less than our last reporting period we feel proud that we have been able to continue to deliver our services for some children and their families
Our services have major impact on children and their families. The benefits that JUMP provides positively impacts on the siblings of these children ,whose lives are impacted on by their brother or sister’s health condition often in a way that can cause mental stress and fear about what is ahead. Creating the Memory Books helps the children to support their brother or sister in a positive way and to grieve and remember them with special memories when they have passed away.
## **Plans for the future**
Having received funding for the new role of Community Development Manager for a three year period we aim to sustain this role to develop our intended work to deliver a Navigation Station at our live events and on our website which will provide positive links to other services and support for the children and their families
We will continue to increase the number of children we provide our services for if funding is raised and we will offer much closer support and communication to engage with the children and their families to enable them to take a part in our Group Memory days and benefit from our partnerships with other charities.
We will look to review our Strategic Plan in our next period and to continue to develop our Fundraising Strategy and aim to reach out to a much wider range of donors as well as aiming to increase the numbers of volunteers who support us.

Our communication will continue to be be strengthened with the wider distribution of our quarterly Newsletter and a managed social media presence.

## **Testimonials**
I cannot tell you how incredible it was to have JUMP to support us at our sons Christening in Liverpool Women's Hospital. The photographs that K and C took are absolutely treasured. It is so important to me that J is able to know about his brother and I will always be grateful to you all for giving us such amazing memories.

Thank you so much for being a part of our sons life and treating him so lovely I really appreciate everything you have done for us as a family the memory book means more to me than you will ever know.
Many thanks to you and your colleagues for your fantastic support for S She loved the photoshoot she had, and we love those great photos. Also, since the original lockdown started in March 2020, she has been socially isolated (especially as this is because she had 6 operations and 30 sessions of radiotherapy last summer/autumn - she could not go to school or see her relatives). So her life had been enriched by attending JUMP digital events (and wonderful gifts!). Also, by attending these events, I could see her confidence growing further. Thank you very much

||I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above
charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/03/2021.
As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the
accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011
(“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out
under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I
have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission
under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.|||
