Bristol Zoolo9ical Society works in the contexl of an ecological and climate crisis. We belleve wnsetvation zoos can
play a c8ntral role in preventing the extinction of endangered species, as well as educating communities.

ecl in Cameioon declared a success- In January a Iwo-year project to safeguard the wildlile ol
Bénoué National Park in northern Cameioon, came lo an end. In partnership with Cameroonian NGO Sekakoh.
we incr8a56d the frequency ol paliols within Ihe park, provided pa1rol teams with much.needed equipment
including GPS and backpacks, and repaired 112 km ol conservation service Toads lo allow anli-poa¢hing teams
lo penetrate deeper into the protected area.
AQUA scheme ex
anded nationall The AQUA (Aquatic Quality Award) biosecurily accreditation scheme, led
by Brislol Zoological Society in partnership wilh Soulhwesl Water and the Animal and Plant Health Agency
IAPHAI, was expanded nationally with funding from DEFRA. The scheme ensures ils parlneis actively conserve
their siles lo maximise native aquatic diversily, prevent disease causing agents Irom posing a risk lo ecosyslems,
and minimise Ihe threat ol Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS.

success.. Two ol the world's raresl bird species, a pair of Mauritlan pink pigeon, now classed a8
Vulnerable, and a pair ol Endangered Visayan tariclic hornbill. bred al Bristol Zoo Projecl. While a pair of Exlincl
in the wild Socorro doves successlully loslered a Vulnerable pink pigeon, in a UK conservation first.

the Levels is launched-. In September, we established a new project, in partnership with Soulh
Gloucestershire Council. Linking the Levels 15 a new nature Tecovery initiative which will locus on 17,230 heclar8S
along the Severn Esluary. Over the next Iwo years, tho project will conduct ecological suNeying and engage local

fish.. In December we took delivery ol more than 50 boxer puplish eggs Irom Whipsnade Zoo,
as part ol ellorts to saleguard the species that is believèd lo be exlincl in Ihe wild. Bristol Zoological Society and
Whlpsnade Zoo are the only zoos in the UK to hold them and breed Ih8m lo enable fulure reinlioduclions.

n8Plfe children to save wildlife. Level one is based on the work our conseNalionisls do in the lield and lollows
the theme ol inve8tigalion. Level Iwo is all about animals and has a locus on games, including sensory boards
and braille inserts.
