AIMS AND PURPOSES
Alpha and Omega ministries Trustees has the responsibilities of cooperating with the pastoral team in promoting the whole mission of the ministry, Pastoral, evangelistic and social welfare of the congregation.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Alpha and omega ministries is committed to enabling as many people as possible to worship at our church and to become part of the community at Charlton and all neighbouring areas. Our services and worship put faith into practice through prayer and scripture, music and devotion.
When planning our activities for the year, the pastoral team, elders and trustees have considered the ministries guidance on the congregation benefit and in particular the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of spiritual maturity. In particular we try to enable ordinary people to live out their faith as part of the community through
Worship and prayer; learning about the Gospel; and developing their knowledge and trust in Jesus.
Provision of Pastoral care for members and the congregation at large in the community.
Missionary and outreach work.
Achievements and performance
Alpha and Omega Ministries are keen to offer a range of services during the week and over the course of the year that our community find both beneficial and spiritually fulfilling.
We have Wednesday bible studies which are conducted from 7pm to 9pm and various subjects and topics are taught and they are backed up by scriptures from the bible. On Friday s we hold prayer meetings from 7pm to 9:45 pm and the last Friday of the month a night vigil is held from 7pm to 11pm. There are morning prayers conducted weekly from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 11am.There are evening prayers from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 6pm to 7pm. There are home cells depending on location on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Two services are conducted on a Sunday with an English service from 10am to 12 noon and a Luganda service subject to interpretation in case there are some members that don’t understand the language from 1pm to 5pm. On a Sunday we hold a Sunday school which has grown. We used to have one but it has now been divided into 3 sections in order to accommodate all age groups. These include the teens, the 7- to 10year-olds, and the 3 to 6 years. They are taught biblical principles and scriptures accompanied with praise and worship and various activities.
The praise and worship team carry out their practice on Saturdays from 2pm to 5pm. They have blessed the congregation through their praise and worship sections as well as other communities where they go to minister.
We began the year with youth conducting all services of the week in the month of February. This portrayed that the ministry has a future for the young people. Due to the brief lock down. They also manage the second Sunday in the month to lead the morning service.
All members are welcome to attend both services. The ministry has 80 regular members plus 45children. And on various occasions we have visitors. We celebrated some new births and other events like weddings, graduations and sometimes funerals.
PASTORAL TEAM
There are now 4 pastors that oversee the spiritual growth of the ministry. The ministry also has elders, trustees, and deacons who are also instrumental in the spiritual and wellbeing of the believers. The senior pastor is always in the office Tuesdays to Fridays from 11am to 5pm.One of our pastors Andrew was commissioned to start a new church in Sheffield and this was inaugurated on the 3[rd] of December 2023. Another pastor was appointed to replace him.
MISSIONS AND EVANGELISM
Helping those in need is a demonstration of our faith and sympathy for those in need. The missions and Evangelism committee were unable to fulfil the missions this year due to the current situation going round as travel and gatherings were suspended.
The ministry is a member of United Ugandan churches in the UK. We regularly network with other pastors to discuss the wellbeing and spiritual aspect of all ministries. On various occasions we call upon some of the pastors to come and minister in our Church.
The ministry also participates in prayer convention to pray for the pearl of Africa Uganda in October during the independence celebrations. The ministry also contributes to the facilitation of the Uganda convention of which the children are called to sing the National Anthem.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Total income received for the financial year 2023 was £74874 and expenditure was £69808 were also received and they are detailed in the financial statements.
We also got some gift aid funding for the year 2020 and 2021 which amounted to £15395. £30900 was spent on hiring the halls and office for the ministry services and activities at the Meridian Sports and Social Club. We also carried out outreach in Uganda which involved several events including conferences, crusades, home visits and this costed the ministry £15480. We also had an annual conference which drew many people from all over the world like Sweden, United states of America, Uganda, and Denmark.
VOLUNTEERS
We would like to thank all volunteers who work so hard to make our church the lively and vibrant community it is. We want to thank the personnel in the sound and technical department, the praise and worship team, pastoral team, Administrators and all other members of the Alpha and Omega ministries for the valuable contribution to our ministry and for keeping the church running.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
The ministry is overseen by the senior pastor and his two assistants. On a regular basis, pastors and Elders meet to discuss the welfare of the ministry. The Administrators oversee the day to day running of the ministry in liaison with all the different departments.

I report on the accounts for the year ended 31[st] December 2023
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The Alpha and omega Ministries trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 43(2) of the charities Act 1993 (the Act) and that an independent examination is needed. Its my responsibility to:
Examine the accounts (under section 43 of the Act),
To follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 43(7)(b) of the Act), and to state whether matters have come to my attention.
Basics of independent examiner’s report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items and disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide any evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a “true and fair “view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner’s statement
During my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements; to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the Act ; and to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 1993 Act; have not been met; or to which in my opinion , attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
