TREASURER’S REPORT
Executive Summary
This report provides a summary of the PTA accounts for the last financial year, August 29[th] 2020 to August 28[th] 2021. During this period, the PTA has raised £22,989.44 in profit and made £16,972.34 in donations to support the school including providing iPads for Year 6 pupils and renovation work to replace the Reception fencing.
As with the previous academic year, activities have continued to be impacted by Covid 19 with the cancellation of key events such as the festive and summer fair and face-to-face sales not possible until later in the summer term. Although this has been a significant challenge, an enormous amount of creativity and determination has been shown with many events and sales continuing to happen within the Covid-19 restrictions.
Consequently, the PTA remains in an excellent financial position with total remaining funds of £60,859.91 at the end of the academic year 2020/21. A summary is shown in Table 1 below.

*Donations to the school exclude recent funding requests for which the PTA are yet to be invoiced (school railing, hall curtains, hall painting, whiteboards and Maths mastery). These requests are expected to total around £16k and will be paid in academic year 2021/22.
Fundraising
The PTA raises most of its funds through running events, organising sales of goods, a PTA lottery, direct donations from parents and carers and commission when purchasing goods through 3[rd] party organisations. The breakdown of funds raised during this academic year are shown in Figure 1 with sales contributing the most profit at just over £10k and events generating profit of around £7.5k.

Events
This year the PTA raised £7,597 from the following events. A huge thank you from the PTA to all the many volunteers who helped organise and run these events. Table 2 shows a comparison of profit by event for academic 2020/21 against the previous two years. It is important to note that 2019/20 was also a year affected by Covid-19 restrictions whereas 2018/19 was prior to the start of the covid-19 pandemic so events were able to run without restrictions that year.

As Table 2 shows, many of the events we would have typically held during the school year have not been possible due to covid-19 restrictions. This includes events that often make substantial contributions to fundraising such as the summer fair, the festive fair and the Halloween event. This has had a big impact on the profit we have been able to make from events with profit in academic year 2020/21 around half the amount we were able to raise in 2019/20 (when we were able to run a festive fair prior to start of the pandemic in March 2020) and around a quarter of the amount we raised in 2018/19 which was prior to the pandemic.
Despite this challenging context, the PTA and all the volunteers have done a remarkable job in running a number of new events this year that complied with the restrictions including the Balgowan Pantomime which raised over £3.5k in profit and various trails which raised almost £3k. Towards the end of the academic year, it was also possible to return to running events that parents and children could attend such as the football tournament and the year 6 leaver events which was a very positive way to end the year.
Sales
The PTA also arranged a number of fundraising sales during the academic year which raised £10,230 in profit. Table 3 shows a comparison of sales in 2020/21 compared to the previous two academic years.

** In previous academic years, the festive auction was incorporated within the festive fair. With the festive fair not possible in 2020/21, the PTA ran a standalone festive auction and the profit has been recorded under sales.
Table 3 shows that the PTA have had a really successful year in running sales events with profit totalling over £10k which exceeds the amount raised in the two previous academic years (even accounting for the festive auction being recorded as a sale this year which raised almost £1.9k). For a number of sales, we were able to significantly increase our profit compared to previous years including the Christmas tree sale, icecream sales and tea towel sales. Christmas card sales again generated around £1.2k in profit and we were able to raise over £1k through the Really Useful Uniform sales which represents an increase of around £400 on the previous year.
Lottery
The lottery was restarted at the beginning of the academic year after being paused during the initial Covid-19 lockdown. The lottery has contributed £362 in profit for the PTA over academic year 2020/21.

Donations from the PTA to the School
Donations to the school were budgeted to be around £28k for the year. However, the PTA have only made payments of £16,972 though this includes the two highest value contributions to replace the reception fencing and to fund Year 6 iPads. We also budgeted £4.5k for Maths Mastery, £2k for Foundation Subject Development and £1k for PTA first aid training. We are awaiting an invoice for Maths Mastery (expected to be around £2.8k) but the other planned programmes were suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The PTA is currently working with the school to understand what new funding requirements they will have for the new academic year. In particular, we are exploring the feasibility of a renovation of the KS1 school playground.

Notes
- There were no requests for teachers to spend vouchers during academic year 2020/21. This is likely due to the disruption to teaching as a consequence of the pandemic
** There have been a number of recent funding requests from the school towards the end of the academic year – listed above. The total of these requests is approx.. £16k but the PTA is still awaiting the invoices so the funding will be paid to the school during academic year 2021/22.
