## **TREASURER’S REPORT**

## Executive Summary

This report provides a summary of the PTA accounts for the last financial year, August 29[th] 2019 to August 28[th] 2020. During this period, the PTA has raised £23,550.21 profit and made £44,155.07 in donations to support the school (see section Donations from the PTA to the school, for a detailed breakdown).

In addition, after liaison with the school during the year, funds amounting to £21,192 (restricted funds) have been allocated for the next financial year, 2020/21.

Activities have been dramatically impacted by Covid 19 with the cancellations of all fundraising events and all face to face sales from March 2020 onwards. However, The PTA remains in an excellent financial position with total remaining funds of £54,842.81 at the end of the financial year 2019/20. A summary of the PTA finances for the last financial year is shown below.

Fundraising in the first half of the 2019/20 year was exceptional due to the commitment of PTA volunteers and the continued quality of fundraising initiatives held. Unfortunately the impact of Covid 19 has meant that all planned fundraising events from April 2020 onwards had to be cancelled.

The PTA are now facing the challenge of how to continue to fundraise in a post Covid 19

world, balancing how to raise money for Balgowan school with the need to keep the school and wider community safe. This will mean exploring new types of fundraising activities.

## Fundraising

The PTA raises most of its funds through running events, organising sales of goods, a PTA lottery, direct donations from parents and carers and commission when purchasing goods through 3[rd] party organisations. The breakdown of funds raised during this financial year are shown below.

Each area is covered in more detail in the following sections of this report.

## Events

This year the PTA raised funds from the following events. A huge thank you from the PTA to all the many volunteers who helped organise and run these events.

Up until lockdown, fundraising through events were on par with last year. The negative costs for the Summer Fair relate to caretaker costs from the previous years' event which were invoiced by the school in this financial year. As the PTA operates a cash and receipt accounting basis these costs are included in the year that they are paid, not the year that they relate to. Because the Summer Fair had to be cancelled this year, this event is showing a small loss due to previous years costs. The Year 6 funfest and end of term event had negative costs as parent donations did not quite cover the expenses for these two events.

## Lottery

The lottery continued to provide a regular source of funds. During lockdown the draw was suspended and the prize amounts are held in restricted funds for 2020/21

 Balgowan PTA Lottery amount raised £431

## Donations from the PTA to the school

Donations to the school were budgeted to be £70,471 for the year. However, the PTA have only made payments of £44.555. This is due to planned programmes being suspended or delayed as the school had to change its priorities during lockdown. Less students were attending school and more teachers were working remotely supporting children with remote learning. This meant a lot of the planned activities were no longer required. The PTA is currently working with the school to understand what new funding requirements they will have for the new academic year.
