After last year, this year has been an historic one for the club, our lovely new clubhouse is all finished, great that we don’t have to bother anyone at the community centre any more, or set off their alarm! A huge thanks to Sally and Keith for project managing all the works with fantastic results! Also huge thanks to Eileen for her magic fundraising fingers in applying and receiving all the grants which has made this possible. Also Claudia whispering in the parish council’s ear made it happen.
The club tournament went ahead in July Kieron won the men’s singles, I won the Ladies singles Kieron & Andy won the Men’s doubles, M & I won the Ladies doubles and Kieron and I won the mixed. I would like to say big commiserations to Cliff, I’ve been in his position several times, not great, I found wine eased the pain! Hopefully we will get more entrants next year so that putting your name down means you have to play at least one round, rather than getting straight into the final!
We had the Chairman’s tournament on the 3[rd] October, the winners were M and Mike, well done. We all had a glass of fizz afterwards to celebrate the opening of our new clubhouse.
The only good thing that seems to have come out of covid is a revival in tennis with lots of people interested in playing. Sunday morning club is working well with at least 8 turning out most weeks and sometimes more. Tuesday night is also quite well attended. Long may it continue!

We received several grants re Covid from EHDC and also a grant from the S106 fund which enabled us to cover the cost of the building work and paving. We also paid reduced rates, again due to Covid.
This year has seen some extra ordinary expenses but the Club has been fortunate to received grants to cover these costs.
