## Respective responsibilities of the Trustees and examiners

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

## examine the accounts (under section 43(3)(a) of the Act)

follow the procedure laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners (under section 43(7)(b) of the Act); and

state whether partcular matters have come to my attention.

## Basis of independent examine's statement

My examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently | do not express an audit opinion on the records.

## Independent examiner's statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

1. Whch gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements;

to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the 1993 Act; and

to prepare accounts which accord with accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 1993 Act.

have not been met; or

2. To which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## Chairmans’ Report

## ZOOM AGM 12/10/2022

’'d like to welcome all the parents & children back to Ducklings, for what looks set to be, another challenging and rewarding year for all.

This has been my third full year as Chairman of the setting.

I'd like to open by passing praise to the staff of Ducklings over the last 12 months.

The Covid-19 pandemic now feels it’s nearing/at the end and Ducklings have continued to prosper despite of this huge challenge.

Michelle is still relatively new to her role in comparison to other settings, but it feels like she’s been running Ducklings for years! The setting has definitely come on leaps and bounds under her direction, with fantastic support also from Sharon and the rest of the team.

Whilst Chickerell continues to see it’s boom in population, occupancy levels at the setting are very high, which is also very positive to see, especially as it’s in a position that’s often more challenging for parents to get to! Again, all credit to the team. Word of mouth and a strong reputation is being heard around the village.

The team’s tireless hard work has also resulted in what was a very positive Ofsted report! There was lots of stress in the build up to this inspection — I’m relieved to see it’s over, for now! Well done again.

Thanks also to the extended committee, who always offer up their time and energy to support the setting. Without the help of the parents, the setting can’t function. So, thank you!

Onwards and Upwards!

Chris Newman - Chairman
