The Pets at Home Foundation (Formally Support Adoption For Pets) INDEPENDENT AUDITOR'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF THE PETS AT HOME FOUNDATION (FORMALLY SUPPORT ADOPTION FOR PETS) (CONTINUED) 52 week period ended 25 March 2021 Extent lo which the audtt was considered pable ofdetecting irregul#ritÉe5, iDcluding fraud (CODtinued) In addiiion. we considered provision5 of oiher laMs and regulations that do not have a direci effect on the rinancial sraiemen15 bltt cotnplian¢e wilh which mighi be fundamental to the charity's ability 10 operate or to avoid a mdlerial penalty. We also considered ihe opportunitie5 and incentives Ihai may exist iviihin the chariiy for fraud. The laws and regulations we considered in this context for the UK operations were the Fundraising Re¥ulations and th¢ Gambling Commission Regulations. Auditin8 Standards limit the required audit procedures lo tdenlify non-compliance with these laws and re¥ulations lo ¢nquiry ofihe TNstees and other tnanagernent and inspeciion of regulatory and legal corrc5pond¢n¢e. if any. We identified the greatest risk of maierial impact on the financial statements from yegularitIes, including fraud. to be within the oveIde of concrols by management. Our audii procedures Eo respond to these risks included enquiries of Tnanagetnent, sample iesiing on the Posting ofjourna15, reviewing accouniiTtg eslimaies for biase5. reviewing regulaiory correspondence wÈih th¢ Charity Commission and reading minuies of meetings of th(Tr5e charged wilh governance. Owing to ihe inhereni limiiarions ofall audit, ther¢ is an unavoidable risk thai we rnay not have detected somc material misstaiements in the financial 5tatCTn¢nts. even though we have properly planned and pcrfortned our audit in accordance wilh auditing standards. For example, the further removed non- complidnce with laws and regulaiions (irre¥u13rities) is from ihe evenis and transactions reflected in the financidl statemenis, Ihe less likely the inherently limited procedures required by auditing standards would identify it. In addition. as wilh any audit. Ihere retnain¢d a higher risk of non4eteclion of irr¢gularities. as these may involve collusion. forgery. inieniional omissions, misrepreseniaiions. or the Oveide of incernal controls. We are noi responsible for preventing non-compliance and cannot be e¥pected to detect non- compliance with all laws and regulaiions.
