The Charity commenced operations in January 2004 and was ￿gIStered with the UK Charities
Commission on 4 June 2004. Its Charity Registralion Number is 1104119, The Charity is also
registered with the HM Revenue & Customs under Reference Number XR 79313.

The Charity's Trust Deed was approved on 4 May 2004 and governs the objects and operations
of the Charity
Objects of the Charity
The objects of the Charity are set out in its Trust Deed and are as follows..
To advance education, particularly in community health promotion, disease and sickness
prevention and in the form of medical personnel training, and the relief of sickness and the relief
of poverty. In particular, but not exclusively by supporting the work of the Centre Medical
Evangelique ( CME) in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) by the provision of funds,
equipment and other resources and any other exclusively charitable means as the Trustees in
their absolute discretion think fit.

Reserves Policy
The Charity does not intend to hold unrestricted reserves since its aim is to grant funds
received as soon as possible to support its objectives in the Democratic Republic of Congo
and the Charity has no significant operating costs apart from these grants.
Investment Policy
The Charity does not intend to have long term surplus funds and so any bank balances held
in exces5 of working capital needs are invested in bank deposrt accounls and no investment
policy has been established.
Grants Made
Grants are made to projects according to assessments made by the Trustees of the needs
the Charity is trying to fulfil and its ability to fund them. The Trustees gather infonnation frorn
a number of sources including contacls with individuals and organisations working on site in
the Democratic Republic of Congo and from personal visits from time to time. In addition,
the Trustees use contacts with other UK charities and individuals working in the country. The
effectiveness of the grants in meeting the objectives of the Charity is monitored by the
Trustees receiving reports from time to time from Ihe CM E.
A list of the various types of support given by the Charity is sel out on page 6 of the financial
statements. We are providing funds to subsidise the hospital bed costs for the most
vulnerable and to pay for their medical treatment including the cosls of any operations.
Some support is also given to subsidise personnel, including training. costs for employees of
CME.
We also provided funds for needy children to go to school in the Nyankunde area as well as
supporting orphaned children in Beni and Oicha.
We have provided £183,000 to build a new hospitalin Sose near Beni.

Unlverslty eduCa￿On
Slnce 2024, some orphans In BenÈ arbd Oicha have finished se¢ondary school and some of therrb asplre to continue their education. We helped establlsh a program
to pay fof a 4.year degree l¢r eertain eligible studenis who we hope can tske on variou5 beldeiship roles within their ¢ommunity.
Orphans In Benl and Ol£ha
These funds were ralsed to help children who had ItJ5t at least one parent through flghtln8 around the Benl and Ol¢ha areas. While they havè bpen placed wlth
new lanilie5, those families need financial support. The funds are tts tnable the orphans to Bo to school by payin8 their fees. uniforms and baslc materials. Thev
also provide a basic family meal and 113urna counsellln8.

Wè have partnered with MEDAID to send vaiiou5 hospttal equlpment lo CME.

These funds have been received and used to help build a new hospJt•l in S05e just outside of Benl. Sevèral wards and an operatin8 theatre have been bullt to
date.
