The Charity commenced operations in January 2004 and was registered with the UK Charities
Commission on 4 June 2004. Its Charity Registration Number is 1104119. The Charity is also
registered with the HM Revenue & Customs under Reference Number XR 79313,
Constitutional Documents
The Charity's Trust Deed was approved on 4 May 2004 and governs the objects and operations of
the Charity
Objects of the Charity
The objects of the Charity are set out in its Trust Deed and are as follows:
To advance education, particularly in community heallh promotion, disease and sickness
prevention and in the form of medical personnel training. and the relief of sickness and the relief of
povety. In particular, but not exclusively by supporting the work of the Centre Medical Evangelique
( CME) in the Dernocratic Republic of Congo (DRC) by the provision of funds, equipment and other
resources and any other exclusively charitable means as the Trustees in their absolute discretion
think fit.

The Trustees below all held office during the year up to and including 31 March 2024. The names

In selecting individuals for appointment as trustees, the trustees have regard to the skills,
knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the Charity.

Reserves Policy
The Charity does not intend to hold unrestricted resenies Sin￿ its aim is to grant funds
received as soon as possible to support its objectives in the Democratic Republic of Congo
and the Charity has no significant operating costs apart from these grants.
Investment Pollcy
The Charity does not intend to have long term surplus funds and so any bank balances held
in excess of working capital needs are invested in bank deposit accounts and no investment
policy has been established.
Grants Made
Grants are made to projects according to assessments made by Ihe Trustees of the needs
the Charity is trying to fulfil and its ability to fund them. The Trustees gather information from a
number of sources including contacts with individuals and organisations working on site in the
Democratic Republic of Congo and from personal visits from time to time. In addition, the
Trustees use contacts with other UK charities and individuals working in the country. The
effectiveness of the grants in meeting the objectives of the Charity is monitored by the
Trustees receiving reports from time to time from the CME.
A list of the various types of support given by the Charity is set out on page 6 of the financial
statements. We are providing funds to subsidise the hospital bed costs for the most
vulnerable and to pay for their medical treatment including the costs of any operations.
Some support is also given to subsidise personnel, including training. costs for employees of
CME.
We also provided funds for needy children to go to school in the Nyankunde area as well as
supporting orphaned children in Beni and Oicha.
We have provided £183,000 to build a new hospital in Sose near Beni.

These provide funds to help train and support those helping to njn proiects furK18d by the Charlty.
Beni orphans In Oicha
Various fundraising campaigns and regular restricted donations have been designated lo help the displaced orphans from Benl
who ralocaled to Oicha b6cause of the death of their pargnls from militia atlacks.
The funds are used to provide food, counselling and schooling. In 2024, 289 children benefited from this program al a cost of £95 a year.

CME are building a new hospital on land they have acquired in Beni. This is replacing the buildings il currently ￿nts in the centre of the town.
To dale, wilh £183,000 of funds provided by the Charity, CME has been ablo to construct an operatin9 theatre, an intensive care block,
mgtarnity ward, a male ward, a paedialric ward, a secur8 fence around the site and to acquire needed equipment.

Friends of CME (Centra Medical Evangelique) Trusl is a charity in England. In the event of the charity bèing wound up, the liability in rèspect
of the guarantee is limlled lo £1 per member of the charity. The nature of Ihe charity's operation$ and principal aclivili8s are to advance
8ducalion and promote good health in Congo.
Th8 financial statements are prepared on a going concem basis under the historical convention. modified to include c8rt8lA ilems at fair value.
The financial slalemenls are presented in sterfin9 which is the lunctional ¢ufrency of the chafity and roLsnded to Ihe nearest pound.
The significant accounhng policies applied in preparation of these* financial slalements affj set out below. These policies have been
consislenlly applied to all year8 presented unless othep•Jise staled.

Unrestri¢led funds are avallable for use at the dlscretion ol the tru8lees in furtheTan¢8 of lh8 general objactives of the tharity and which have
nol bean designated for other purposes.

lor particular purposes. The cost of raising and administering su¢h funds are charged against the specific fund. The aim and use of each
