CARDIFF CHAMELEONS Trustees and Treasurer’s Report For the Year ending 30thSeptember 2024.

Dear Chameleons Members.

A big thank you to our Trustees, committee and supporters who organized and attended our Social functions this year. The money raised from these functions and the donations we receive are what keeps us ticking over. This was the Clubs 65[th] anniversary and the Club celebrated the event at the Summer Tea Party, with all those attending having their Photographs taken as a group and an individual photo put into a frame and presented to them, as a memento. My thanks to Stephen (David) Bailey for the Photographs.

Donations are up considerably on 2023 thanks to Alan Beech’s Sister who attempted the Trek from Katmandu to the Everest Base Camp, despite getting Covid and picking up a stomach bug, which plagued her for around six months, she managed to raise over £3,000 for Chameleons.

The Club received a couple of other sizeable donations, £1000, from a good friend of Denise Pearson who passed away at the beginning of the year. We were successful with several grant applications during the year, one for £5000 from the Wolfson Foundation and a grant of £4000 from The Percey Bilton Foundation. These Donations and Grants enabled the Club to replace its ageing Minibus in April 2024. The bus has so far been a good reliable servant and allowed us to attend competitions as far afield as Falkirk, Plymouth and Leeds.

Club membership and SOGB numbers remain fairly stable, despite the lack of Competition or a National Summer Games on the horizon, the majority of long term SOGB members decided to renew their membership for 2024.

Our Sporting Event attendance during the year has increased, with some good results from the Swimmers and Bowlers. The Bowlers now have additional National competitions following the inclusion of Intellectual Learning Disabilities by both the Indoor and Outdoor Governing Bodies.

The number of members and their families paying by Bank Transfer’s, continues to increase, which reduces our Bank Charges. These charges have been offset by some Interest from our Savings Account. There are still however quite a few cash transactions which is where we incur most of the Bank charges,

Once again, we are indebted to Margaret Krawiecka, for her work auditing the books for the Club, we are also indebted to her for again modifying our spreadsheet which has made my life much simpler when entering the accounts.

Barrie Jenkins – Trustee/Treasurer. February 2025

INDEPENDENT REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES AND MEMBERS OF CARDIFF CHAMELEONS

Charity 1103879

I report on the accounts of the Chameleon’s Charity for the year ended 30[th] September 2024.

The Charity’s Trustees are responsible for preparing the year end accounts. Under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 it is deemed necessary to audit and report on the year end accounts.

Examinaton of the Accounts

A random sample of the underlying documentation of both income and expenditure was traced up to the final accounts. A further sample, above a de minimis value, of both income and expenditure was traced to the final accounts. The final accounts were analysed for reasonableness against the prior year’s accounts and explanations were sought where reasons for unexpected changes from last year to this year were not known. The statements of accounts were cast and cross cast.

Reasonable explanations were provided for anomalies identified during the examination of the accounts. Analysis of the 2023/24 accounts against the previous year’s accounts provided further assurance of the accuracy of the 2023/24 accounts. Together with the checking of the samples and the casting of the accounts, adequate assurances have been provided to confirm that the accounts represent a true and fair view of the financial activities of the Cardiff Chameleon’s Charity for the year ended September 2024.

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
