The Garston Advcnture Playground originally began&s a Summer Holiday playschem4 organized by locaL
parents aDd res&d¢llts on Garston ParL R¢¢ognizing the ongoittg need for a dedicated space wher¢ ¢hildren
and young people in th¢ arei could play safely and fre¢ly, the community look proactive steps to s¢cuw a
pemianent location. Their efforts included searcljiug for ideal sitc and seekiTrg OUE fimding opportunitics to
bring th¢ir vision to life. With support from central government fimding* combined wilh st8nificanr
ommitsnent and hard work from those Involve4 the development of Gttrstoll Adventure PlaY￿ollnd officially
conllncnccd in 1978. In 19110 HRH The Duke of Edinburgh officially opencd the playground.

(HAF) program, allowing us to extend our services to a br03der Broup of youn8 pcople. The additional

prepared 10 move ba¢k inro our butlding. We prioritised 8cquiring new kitchen equipment lo ensure our
¢ontinued abiliry to provsde meals nnd sUPPOrt for the Community. The addition of a new free7.er has
sigDificanily increased ourstorage capacity for food, 8Jlowiog us to better serve local familie5 and prevent

needed refurbishmellt of our building. In addition to the capital fiwds. we also received some r¢venue support
ainted at facilitating our expansion* providtng tratning opportunities, additiooal staff for12 months and
v¢rintsy any addifional expenses associated wtth the refutbishment proje¢r.
R¢furbishment work ¢omm¢nced in May. marking a significant milestone for our organisatioD. Despite the
ongoiDg constructi¢Jn, we remained Committed to se￿illg the eonttillmty artd ¢ontintsed to our aetivities
tbout internsption. Durin8 this period, we operatcd out of the Muddy Footprintlp NurKrys whi¢h ts located
on our site. This errangement a]lowed us to tnaintain otsr rc£ularserviccs artd support for local children and
families while improvcmcnts. tu our main building were underway. The capital part of the project camc in
under budget. Unfortunately. we weren't able to re-allocate ihe funds.
