## **Teacher Aid Trustees’ Annual Report for period 1st January 2021 to 31st December 2021 (Charity no. 1103660) Summary of Activities throughout the year Fundraising Programme** ## **Fund Raising events** £139,177.04 was raised throughout the year. Funds were raised from our annual sponsored walk, together with The Big Give as well as funding from two NGOs, three churches, on line donations as well as a number of individual donations from supporters. Our main fundraising is not one event; it is continuous, month on month. The school we are supporting, Nsobe Community School, relies on TA to pay a salary to the teachers, buy food, books, uniform material etc. It is the support fund which incorporates the pen-pal scheme. This popular scheme for UK and Zambian children is educational and caring for both children, whereby UK parents pay a monthly sum of £15 minimum, not to the child but direct to TA’s bank. During the year sponsors have increased from 88 to 108. The monthly donations in 2021 averaged £3.200.00 . It is a continuous fundraising programme which is the backbone of the school. ## **Events under Covid- 19** During the year of 2021 Teacher Aid managed only one our annual Gower Yomp. ## Teacher Aid 2021 Gower Yomp We visited the School in our usual month of November. It was a great trip and much was achieved. The building of the vocational works had been completed by the time we arrived. Mike Papadacos, our treasurer, is a Computer expert and electronics engineer. He was pivotal in installing solar energy in 2021 and under his guidance the specifications for the full installation of all electrics and equipment to school’s new vocational workshops by the local tradesmen. The audio visual room had the 1KWh solar system upgraded 2.5KWh, essential for the expansion of the extra computers needed for the primary school. Our Safe House for which we fundraised in 2020’s Gower Yomp through the picturesque village of Rhossili, had bee completed, fully furnished and 9 vulnerable girls moved in under the care of a hose mother. The safe House was named “Rhossili House. ## The Rhossili Safe House The Vocational workshops building had been finished. During our stay Mike arranged for the installation of a 4Kwh solar system and designed the electrical wiring for the full project. The electrical wiring will be completed by the first quarter of 2022. The Vocational Workshops with their own water supply The Vocational Workshops 4KWh Solar Plant 2021 was also the year for the first Grade 12 to be graduated since was the primary school established 12 years ago. The students will have a gap year and will be placed with local organizations to gain basic skills in order to follow their own careers. Hopefully most of these students will be sponsored by the Zambian government for their University studies. ## **Expenditure** Full details of the expenditure in the year (£107,053.79) are in the accounts which are available to all. Nsobe Community School, received £105,017.04. The remainder was spent on computer parts for the school, credit card processing from our online donations, Edukit the funding application specialists and website development. **We invested £34,160.00** in order to gain interest for our bursary fund to support graduate students with no financial means in order to follow their planned careers.
