regard io the Charity Commisston's general guidance on public benefiL including the guidance on fee charging.
The theatre relies on the incoTne from fees and charg4 and grants. to cover its operdiing costs. In setting the
level of fee5. charges and concessions. Ihc trustees give consideration to the accessibility of the theatre for thos¢
on low intomes.
The trustees have also referred io the guidance Colltsined in the Charity Cornmission's genernl guidance on
public benefit when reviewing aims and objrftives and in planning fuiure activities.

The trustees and chief executive work to ensure that the theatre is both used and made available for ¢v¢nts which
fvlfil the charitable objects and enable5 il lo operdie in a stsble financial environment.
The use of the theatre facilities for worship and other Christian a￿1VitieS
It was noi possible for ihe theatre f￿1[itieS io be used for o¢¢asiollal rneetings which provide worship. prayer and
t￿hIng opportunities for the local community this year due to the pandemic related national and regional public
hedlth restrictions on owiin&
Facilities made available for education
The theatre facilities are made available for the provision of education and training events. and used by a Theatre
School which provides training in drarn& da￿¢ and singing. iA)¢al schools were not able to make use of the
theatre for their own productions this year and the Shakespeare khools Festival did not take place due to
coronavirus related public health national resthct10￿s.

The Theatre as an artistic venue
Public health measures introduced by the Governmeni to contsin the coronavirus pandemie megnt that the theatre
was closed for the majority of the year. A very limited number of productions were staged during the year, with
audience capacity Constrained by social distsncing requirements. Th¢ programme attracted 1.377 patrons and
varied from dance to m￿S1¢al theatre. Fihn screenings attrathd 988 people and event cinema 1,350 people.
The Leatherhead Drama Festival. usually a two week eveni with adult and junior groups taking part. wa5 not able
to take place thi5 year. An online gallery Open￿ during the year and hostrd a number of art exhibitions
featuring a broad range of wi¥k from sixieen artists.
The [￿h¢thead Theatre R¢rtrtory Company remains dormant at presenL Whilst the trust rernains committed to
making theatre a vital and affordable part of life in Ltatherhead and the surrounding community. li has to do so
on a financially sustaknable basis.
Fingncial review
The level of unrestri¢ted income to the trust was 16% lower this year mainly due to th¢ abs¢nce of income from
the th￿re not being fully (Trfftd by the £62288 doTh*ions and £48.143 grJnts received during the year.
Unrestricted ¢xpenditure w15 in line with lagi year. Due to the accumulated losses incurred by th¢ theatre
Company no income or don*ion5 were received by the tTU5t from that sourcc this year.
Reserves policy
The trll￿tts believe that the unrestricted reservek should be sufficient to meet contracted liabilities. Free
reserves of approxam*ely £50.IM)O (?020.' £50.(￿) are considered suitsble. At present the ¢harity has free
res¢rves of £45.74] (20?0= £49.105).
Investment policy
The twstees. having regard to th¢ liquidity requirements of 0￿[￿ting the trust and to the reserves pTrlicy, operate
a policy of keepang available fvnds in an interest beartng d¢p05ii account and seek to achieve a rate of interest
which matches or exceeds inflation. Due to wider ecortonjic ¢ircumstanc¢s it h&s Troi been TM>ssible to achieve
this airn during the year.
Plans for future pellods
Trustees continu¢ to seek fiwther ways of W￿ing the theatre to more beneficial use for those who ar¢
disadvantaged in society, and to raise fijnds to enhance the ficilities of the venue and maintaTn the fabric of the
Grdd¢ 11 lisied building.

Governing document
Leatherh¢ad Revival Trust l5 a company limited by guarantee governed by its Memorandurn and Articles of
Association dated 10 March 2004. It is registered as a charity with the Charity Commission. The tnjstees are

Appointment of In￿ttS
As set out in the Articles of As%>ciation the I￿￿ee5 are apwTrinted by resoluti{￿ of the trustees passed by
majority of the irustees. The chatnnan of the trustees is appointed by the trustees. The trnstees are not subjeci to
reiirement by roiation. The ter¥n of the trustee continues until he or she retires or is removed in accordance with
the relevant provisions of the Articles. All tr￿Stee$ are made aware of the intention to apw)int new tnjstees and
are invited to nominate new trnstees. Ivhen considering candidates for a p05ation as tThstee the Board has regard
to the expertise of the candidatr, any specialist Skills neeth¢ and the likely ability of the candidate to discharge
the objects of the trust.

Trnstee5 are briefed on their legal obligations un(kr charity and company law. the Charity Commission guidance

Related parties
None of the tNste¢5 receive r¢Tnuneration or other benefit from their work with the ch8rtty. Any conneetion
between a trustee or senior manager of the charity with a production ¢ompany. contra¢ted actor. perfomier or
exhibitor must be disclosed to ihe Ix)ard in the same way as any other contractual relationship with a related
party. In the current year no such related party irnisactions were reported.
The majority of the activities of the charity are conthicted through a wholty owned subsidiary company. namely
the Leatherhead Theatre Company Limiied. The L￿hcrhtad Theatre Repertory Company Limited is curr¢ntly
dorn)ant. To ¢nsure full co-ordination and constst¢rw between th¢ trusi and its subsidiary companies the chief
cxccutive is managing director of these companies.

The charity trustees (wtho are a150 the direthors for the purposes of company law) are responsible for preparing a

Accounting Standards (Uniied Kingdom Genernlly Accepted Accounting Practice).

by the novel corollavirus {covid-19) which was declared a global pandemic by the World Flealth
Organisation in March 2020. In the peritKI Since the financial year end d￿e the charity's operntion5 have
been impacied by the pandemic. However. the trustees have currently assessed that the charitv should not
b¢ 50 affected by the pandemic it should not ￿ regarded as a going concem and ther¢fore the
financial statements include no adjustment in this respeci.

Income is reeognised when ihe charity has entitlement to the fi￿d$, any PErfonnance conditions have been
met. it is probable that the income will be received and the arnowjt can be measured reliably. and in the

Irrecoverable VAT is charged against th¢ category of expeThJiture for which it was incurred.
Costs of geneming fund5 are those incurred in attraciing voluntary income. Governance costs comprise
costs which relate to constitutional and sthtutory requirements. Supp)rt costs include central fi]nctÈons
and are allocated to cost categories on a basis consisrent with the use of resources. such &5 allo￿tIng
operty eosts by fl(x)r areas. staff costs by time spent and other costs by their usage.
2.6 Voluntary help
A Certain amouni of time 15 cxpended on the charity's activities which is donated free of charge. It is not
)ssible io quantify the value of the time given. and xcordingly it is neither recorded donated income
nor as an expense in the financial Statements.
