Tenerife Family Church.

Trustee Year-End & Public Benefit Report (15 months) From Oct 1[st] 2019, to Dec 31[st] 2020.

The change in accounting period was brought about by the introduction of a more up to date ‘calendar year’ accounting package from Dec ‘20

In line with many other operations, this period has probably been one of the most difficult times we have encountered overall. Having been ‘normal’ for the first six months, suddenly we were all affected by the Covid 19 pandemic, affecting most of society. With ‘lock down’ being severe at first, things eased considerably once the influx of visitors was stemmed. The problem then became that of hardships brought about by the lack of employment, with many establishments having to close!

The church became more active in helping to meet the needs of people with provision of food and other essential items, mainly donated by church attendees. Eventually the church was allowed to begin meeting again in restricted numbers, temperatures taken, hand gel, 2metre distancing, face coverings etc, but much better than not meeting!

This became a time of challenge and change, with the introduction of a pre-recorded Sunday morning slot on local radio, and the eventual introduction of ‘live stream’ broadcasts on You Tube, which have continued, following a period of pre-recorded ones.

This we have found filled a void in the lives of many who were unable to have meetings in their own countries, which in turn brought in more financial support to keep the church active and productive.

Public Benefits

Again, from the normal ongoing things of church activities, the sudden changes of Covid caused many to become fearful, not knowing what the future held for both themselves and their loved ones, how long before, (if ever), normality as they had known it, would return? This is where the faith of the Christian is able to be exercised. Whilst not having all the answers, knowing of the existence and a relationship with a creator Father God, allows the Christian to be able to offer reassurance to others based on experience and trust in The Holy Bible and the details recorded within it.

Unfortunately, many of the previous activities had to be curtailed from March onwards, such as, ‘The Living Room’ drop-in centre, Hospital visiting, Brownies, Scouts, Mum’s & Tots etc. We look forward to seeing most (if not all) of these activities resume in the fulness of time.

On a more positive note, the work of the ‘House of Hope’ rehabilitation facility continued with very little upset due to its very rural location and spacious accommodation.

The facilities of funeral services, conducted on a purely voluntary payment basis continued throughout, also the work of the ‘She’ organisation, helping those women caught up in domestic, and other violent relationships and situations.

An unusual period of time, but one where Tenerife Family Church has been able to play its part in serving God in so many useful ways, to His glory. Amen

Signed, the trustees.
