ELLESMERE COLLEGE LIMITED
DIRECTORS' REPORT (incorporating the Strategic Report) YEAR ENDED 31ST AUGUST 2022
The College continues to be one of only a small number of schools in the world that has been accredited by the World Academy of Sport as an Athlete Friendly Education Centre. Various national selections and achievements took place across a wide range of sports, including (but not exclusively) rugby, hockey, shooting, golf, swimming, and tennis.
- Continuing to achieve and maintain appropriate accreditation to validate the exceptional artistic and performance opportunities at the College.
The College has maintained its standard as an Artsmark Platinum School, as designated by the Arts Council of Great Britain, and remains one of a very small number of independent schools in the United Kingdom to have achieved this standard. Artsmark Platinum recognises the excellent provision of the College for the arts, but also the College's outreach programme.
- Ensuring that the College is of the highest quality to maintain pupil numbers.
The College provides a holistic education covering the academic, sporting, artistic and personal development of all our pupils.
- Exploring international opportunities to create additional revenue streams to support the College's charitable activities.
Significant progress has been made in pursuit of international projects and the College, through its subsidiary company Ellesmere College International, expects to make a major announcement in relation to one such project during the Michaelmas Term 2022. Other projects remain in development.
Principal Activities of the Year
The principal activity of the school is the delivery of education to pupils ranging from 7 to 18 years of age. We normally run a number of summer school activities and the school is open at other times for use by the local community. Pupil numbers at the school during the year were as follows:

Public Benefit
Within the objects, the school aims to create an environment to nurture children, to get the best from them and to allow them to develop and fulfil their potential. We provide them with a first-class independent education and a wide range of sporting and artistic opportunities. Our public benefit aim is that all pupils will be self-confident and desire to contribute to the wider community.
In the furtherance .of these aims the Ellesmere College governors, as the charity trustees, have complied with the duty in s.17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's published general and relevant sub-sector guidance concerning the operation of the public benefit requirement under that Act.
Our school welcomes pupils from all backgrounds. To admit prospective pupils, we need to be satisfied that our school will be able to educate and develop prospective pupils to the best of their potential and in line with the general standards achieved by their peers. Entrance interviews and assessments are undertaken to satisfy ourselves and parents that potential pupils can cope with the pace of learning and
