5.3Boarddevelopment-ensureaneffectiveandinspiredBoardthatprovidestheguidanceand support
requiredbytheSecretariat.Reviewthenumber,skillsandmixofBoardmemberstoensure adequate
representationofgender,expertiseandgeographicallocation.Identifytrainingrequirementsand consider
succession planning.

Network Structures

During2021and2022,extensivechangesweremadetothenetworkstructuresofMicahGlobal,building on
ourcommitmenttobemember-led,digitallyenabled,andanetworkratherthanamovement.In2023, this
resulted in the following network structures being agreed:

1. Micah Forum s which are online or onsite spaces of any duration where members meet. There are three types of Forums: Micah Connect, Micah Learn and Micah Chapel.

2. Micah Groups which may be geographic (comprising Regional Groups, Country Groups and Local Chapter) and thematic groups on any topic of interest to a group of members (e.g. humanitarian response, advocacy, disability in clusion, anti-human trafficking).

3. Micah Hub which is the online platform for Micah members to share news, resources, have conversations, find one another and connect to the activities of Forums and Groups.

Micah is governed by a Board of members and facilitated by a Secretariat.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

Network Activities 2024

Below are activities that were implemented in 2024.

Forums

2024 saw the continuance of online and onsite member gatherings, as defined in the strategy above.

Micah Connect

MicahConnectisformemberstoconnect,network,pray,discuss,and"situnderatreetogether"and explore
questionsthatmatterto members.5 x MicahConnectforumstookplaceduring2024.(not includingthe Micah
Connects for Lausanne).
MicahConnectNorthAmerica:11June2024ThisConnectwasheldatEasternUniversity,Philadelphia and
wasattendedby 23delegates.Thepurposewasan initial,exploratoryon-sitemeetingofmembers (facilitated
bytheMicahSecretariat)todiscernawayforwardinexploringthepossibilityandpurposeofadefined North
America Region within Micah, and of USA and Canada Country Groups.
Theparticipantsweredividedinto4groupstodiscussthequestion,"Howdo weseeSolidarity,Learning, Action
and Reach playing out in the North American context?"
Membersinattendanceagreedtoforma workinggrouptocarryforwardthediscussionsanddevelopment of
MicahConnectNorthAmerica.ArepresentativefromWheatonCollege,WorldReliefandWilliam Carey
InternationalUniversityagreedtobeontheworkinggroup.DeborahHancoxoftheMicahSecretariatwill help
to coordinate the activities of this group.
MicahConnectAsiaforHumanitarianResponse:11-13November2024ThisonsiteConnectheld in
Kathmandu,Nepal,waswellattendedbybothlocalNepalesemembersandpartners,and75 international
delegatesfrom17countries.Plenaryspeakersfortheeventcamefromthefollowingorganisations:Food for
theHungry(Indonesia),ARochaInternational(India)andAsiaPacificBaptistAid(SriLanka). Participants
expressedpositivefeedback,particularlyregardingthefieldvisitsandtheconfidencegainedbythe Nepal
teaminorganizinganinternationalevent.TherewassuccessfulcollaborationamongNepalcountry group
membersandtheMicahSecretariat.Thefinancialoverviewshowedthattheeventnearlybrokeeven,with a
minor$400deficitcoveredbycontributionsfromNepalcountrygroupmembersandfinancialsupport from
international delegates.
Lookingahead,plansincluderevitalizingsub-regionalnetworks,promotingsharedlearnings, inviting
participantstojointheIntegralMissionForum,andorganizingthenextAsia Connectevent.Actionitems were
assignedtofacilitatenetworkingbetweencountryconvenersandestablishinganAsiasteeringgroup to
ensure continued collaboration.

Micah Chapel

MicahChapelisa placetowithdrawfromthebusynessofworklifetosharetestimonies,meditateon scripture,
reflect, pray and worship together. 10 x Micah Chapel forums took place in 2024.

Micah Learn

MicahLearnistheplacewheremembersgathertolearnfromoneanotherandfromoutsidespecialists on
topicsrelatedtorelief,development,careandadvocacy.Thismaytaketheformofastructured course
offering,ormoreinformalandinteractivepeer-to-peerlearning.5MicahLearnforumstookplacein2024 (4
were facilitated by the HRTG).

Groups

Country Groups

CountryGroups,representingthecontinuedevolutionofwhatusedtobecalledNational Expressions,
continuedtobedefined.CountryGroupConvenersinAfricametonlineonseveraloccasionstodiscuss their
respectivecountrygroups.CountrieswithnamedMicahConvenersinAfricaincludeKenya,Tanzania, Burundi,
Rwanda,DRC,Zambia,SouthAfrica,Cameroon,NigeriaandCoted'Ivoire.CountriesinAsiawith named
conveners include Pakistan, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Singapore and the Philippines.

Regional Groups

Africagroupwasformedin2023andhadregularmeetingsthroughout2024,workingonmattersof common
interest. Conversations about Europe, Asia, Latin America and North America are taking place.

Thematic Groups

ThematicGroupsrepresenttheprimaryareasoffocusofMicahGlobalmembers.Theseinclude humanitarian
response,development,creationcareandadvocacy.Itisenvisagedthateachofthesefourareas will
develop member-led, Secretariat coordinated Thematic Groups.

Micah Hub

TheMicahNetworkingPlatformwaslaunchedin2022asapurelyonlineForumwherememberscanfind and
connectwithoneanother.Theycanmakethemselvesknown,bringcontributionsofvariouskinds, and
interact.Itistheplacewherenews,events,resourcesandotherinformationissharedandfrom where
thematicandcountrygroups,networkforumsandmembereventscanbeeasilyaccessed.Bytheend of
2024, there were 470 member individuals registered as users on the platform.

Membership

In2024,Micahhadapproximately293activememberorganisationsand130individualmembersacross all
continents.Inthesameyear,MicahGlobalwelcomed31newmembers:20organisationalmembersand 11
individual members, from 18 different countries.
Membershipdatahasbeenmigratedontoasinglemembershipdatabasesystem/platformtoallow for
secureandtimelyinformationmanagement.Themembershipdatabasecurrentlyhas1,173contacts listed
who are in member organisations.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

Financial Review

During the year the charity received total income of £184,160 (2023: £93,301).
During the year the charity's total expenditure was £160,570 (2023: £145,098).
Cash flow was monitored throughout the year and reported to the Board monthly.
Anannualbudgetismadeeachyearbasedpartlyonthepreviousyear'sincomeandexpected member
subscriptionsanddonations.A levelofriskisalwayspresentasourmembershipmaychange,and subscription
invoicesmaynotbepaid.Ourreservespolicyoffersadegreeofprotectionalongwiththeacceptance to
membershipofnewmembersandtheongoinggenerosityofexistingmembers(especially individuals).
Monthly financial reports are sent to the Board and are regularly reviewed against budget for the year.
Despitereportinga goodlevelofincome,2024wasa difficultyearfinancially,andMicahendedtheyear with
fundswellbelowitsreservespolicytargetof£30,000.Themaincauseofthiswasitsmembersalsohaving a
challengingyear.Asthisfinancialunderperformanceemerged,expenditurecutswereimplemented. The
2025budgethasbeenconfiguredtoensurethatthefundspositionmakesprogressduring2025towards the
reservespolicytarget.Inaddition,itisplannedtoincreaseitsfundraisingactivitiesbeyondour annual
membercontributionstoallowustoexpandourNetworkactivityanddevelopnewinitiativessuch as
additional Thematic and Country groups. Some of these activities will require additional fundraising.
Micahwouldliketotakethisopportunitytothankeveryoneinvolvedfortheirgenerosityandsolidarity around
the Micah vision.

Reserves policy

Thecharityaimstohavesufficientreservestobeabletorespondtoneedsastheyarisebutotherwiseaims to
passonfundsasquicklyaspossible.Duetotheclassificationofsomeofourincomeandgrantfunding as
restrictedfundsin2024,weendedtheyearwithabalanceonourunrestrictedfundsof£3,351.Our reserve
policycommitmentisforasurplusof£30,000andduring2025wewillmonitorthiscloselyandworkto increase
this balance back to our reserve policy target.

FINANCIAL REVIEW

Risk Assessment

Thecharityhasinternalcontrolsthatprovidereasonableassuranceagainsterrorsorloss.TheTrustees also
considertheriskassessmentforthecharityandaresatisfiedthatallsignificantriskshavebeen considered
together with prudent mitigation measures and action points and this assessment is regularly reviewed.

Public Benefit

TheTrusteeshaveconsideredtheguidanceprovidedbytheCharityCommissionregardingpublicbenefit and
theworkofthecharity.ItistheiropinionthatTheMicahNetworkhasfulfilleditspublicbenefitrequirement for
theyearbycontinuingtooperatewithinitscharitableobjectives:providinganetworkforindividuals and
organisationsoperatingacrosstheglobeintheareasofhumanitarianresponse,development,creation care
and advocacy

Structure, Governance and Management

Globalandisknownbythatname.Thecompanynumberis4669640.Thegoverninginstrumentis the
Memorandum and Articles of Association.
ThecharityisgovernedbyaBoardofTrusteesandasmallerExecutiveCommittee(madeupof3 Board
membersandtheGlobalDirector)whomeetregularlythroughouttheyear.Newtrusteesareappointed by
voteoftheexistingtrustees.TheBoardmet6times,andtheExecutivemet12timesduring2024;minutes are
kept of each meeting.
DaytodaymanagementofthecharityisprovidedbyaSecretariatofsixstaffwithanFTEof3.1 (December
2024):GlobalDirector,OperationsDirector,MembershipCoordinator,HumanitarianResponse Coordinator,
CommunicationsManagerandFinanceandComplianceOfficer.TheSecretariatismadeupof employees
and contractors. The Global Director is part of the Executive Committee and is invited to Board meetings.

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements

Thefinancialstatementsofthecharitablecompany,whichisapublicbenefitentityunderFRS 102,
havebeenpreparedinaccordancewiththeCharitiesSORP(FRS102)'AccountingandReporting by
Charities:StatementofRecommendedPracticeapplicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccounts in
accordancewiththeFinancialReportingStandardapplicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland (FRS
102)(effective1January2019)',FinancialReportingStandard102'TheFinancialReporting Standard
applicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland'andtheCompaniesAct2006.Thefinancial statements
have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

Income

All incomeisrecognisedintheStatementofFinancialActivitiesoncethecharityhasentitlementto the
funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.

Expenditure

Liabilitiesarerecognisedasexpenditureassoonasthereisalegalorconstructive obligation
committingthecharitytothatexpenditure,itisprobablethatatransferofeconomicbenefitswill be
requiredinsettlementandtheamountoftheobligationcanbemeasuredreliably.Expenditure is
accountedforonanaccrualsbasisandhasbeenclassifiedunderheadingsthataggregateall cost
relatedtothecategory.Wherecostscannotbedirectlyattributedtoparticularheadingsthey have
