The staff have provided a variety of activltles and sessions for the chlldren and their famllles and work In partneip wlth Plant Dewi, ICC, Hying Start and other providers to pthide parents and thildren whth information sesstons together wlth prartlcal actlvlties and workshops. General activltles at the centre have incled c(x)klng, gardenlngi themed arts and craft sesaons, mew play, play)aY att"tvltles, fun (lays, nature walks arKI read wgth rrE se5slcns. Healthy eatirKJ and actlve lifestyles are promoted at the ttntre arKI there Is a weekly lunch dub. Parents benefited enjoyed the healthy eatlng and low budget meals that are demonstrated In the health promotion sesslons. The w*ldy structure indudes: Baby group on Thursday mornln8, that 8lves parents and bables the space to enjoy free playi messy play and crafts e.g. baby keepsakes. TogetherTlme on a Thursday afternoon for parents and thelr chlldren whlch Incorporates crafts, cooking actlvltles, a5 well as various play opportunitles. Stay and Play is held on a Friday with free play, crafts, messy play, stories, son85, dancln8, cooking and varlous learning and play opportunltles for parents and thelr children. Lunch Club Is held on Frlday durln8 Stay and Play and provides parents and children with a two-course healthy meal, with at leastthree frult or vegetable servlngs. The chlldren where possible will help prepare the food. Morfa Meals, each week a recipe Is chosen, all the Ingredlents are provided, to up to 20 famllle5, The meal Is then cooked with thelr chlldren at home. The packs are collected Thursday or Friday durlng the centre openlng times. The centre has attracted a number of fundln8 Pots to sustaln the setting over the last year The centre has 2 regular members of staff which has enabled us to offer contlnulty for familles attendlng the centre instead of relylng on sessional staff to dellver sesslons Local famllles are feellng le55 isolated due to attending Morfa Famlly Centre, with a lot of families rnoving in and out of the area, parents feel like they belong to sornethin8 when they come to the Family Centre. Theyi therefore, feel more secure in the community as they know more people. Lunch club allow5 children and parent5 to try new foods. It also develops children's social skills by teaching them and gettlng them used to sittlng at the table, using Cutlery etc. These 5ki11s have been developed and used in the home. Furthermore, it ha5 also inspired famllies to recreate the dishes made at the family centre and trythem at home. Actlvities this year have Included themed event5 such a5 Chr15tmas, Chlnese New Year, Valentine5 day, St David'5 Dayi Mothers Day, Easter, Fathers Day and Summertrips. We made a conscious effort thls year to also celebrate more Welsh holidays Such a5 5antes Dwynwen, to strengthen, teach and promote Welsh culture and history.

Lunch Club is very well attended with regular group of attendees and some who come for the social aspect for themselve5 and thelr children. We have noticed a dramatlc Increase In attendees especially slnce the coStf-11vln8 crlsls, with numbers reachlng twenty famllles for lunch. It also allows children and parents to try new foods and develops children's social skills byteaching them and gettin8 them used to slttlng at the table, uslng cutlery etc. These skills have been developed and used In the home. Furthermore, it has also insplred famllle5 to recreate the dishes made at the family centre and try them at home. We have also seen an Increase in our Baby Group attendance as more oarents are feellng more confldent to attend groups wlth infants as the pandemlc has moved further behind us. Thls year has seen a new projert come Into play, Morfa Meals. We have been provldln8 families wlth the in8redlents to make a recipe at home. We have been provlding between 15-20 mea15 a Yek, each pack contains a meal to feed a family of 4. Thls cooklng experience Includes input from all famlly, to help wlden healthy meal cholces in the homel grow parents, confldence cooking from scratch, encoura8lng young chlldren to read, measure, mix, cut and food hygiene. It also provldes an opportunity to try new foods and flavours to broaden the famllies food cholces. The centre has managed to secure funding for trlps and sociallslng afterthe pandemic. This has meant a lot to famllles as it has enabled not only the chlldren to galn soclal skills but parents themselves have benefitted from the Interactlons tO8ether. It has been hard for some families to take the step to getting out and about agaln and the trips have helped them to feel less anxlou5 and start to enjoy their surroundlngs together. Reserves Pollcy The trustees reviewed the charltrls needs for reserves in Ilne wth the gUIdan issued by Charity Comm15sion. The greatest area of rlsk to the effeLtiveness of the charlty Ss loss of grant fundlng. In the event of such a loss the trustees wlsh to be able to malntaln seNth5 fw at least 3 months to enable other sour5 of funding to be secured or to make thanges to exlsting seNlTrs. The trustees therefore feel that reseeS thould normally approxlmate to 3 - 6 nKJntts of the largest grant. Thls currently equates to approximately £5,000 £10 000. As of 31 May 2024, reserves held equatsd to £7,740, whlch Is below the top end of thls rae. The trustees a cLsIdering way5 to Increa unrestricted funds and contlnue to monitor reserrfes on an annual basls.
