REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST AUGUST 2024. The Trustees have pleasure in presenting their report for the period ended 31st August 2024. The Report is prepared in accordance with the Trust Deed and the recommendations of the 'Statement of Recommended Practice - Accounting and Reporting by Charities, and complies with applicable law. Governlng Document The Charity was established in January 2004 and is governed by the Charities Act 2011. The management of the Trust is the responsibility of the Trustees who are appointed under the terms of the Trust Deed. Objects The object of the Charity is to advance the education of Tunbridge Wells Girls, Grammar School pupils. The Trustees have complied with the duty in the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to public benefit guidance published by the Commission. Review of Activities The inaugural meeting of the Charity took place on 26 January 2004. The Charity was established to support the education at Tunbridge Wells Girls, Grammar School. The Charity enables the recovery of tax at the standard rate from donors. The Sports Centre Campaign commenced in 2018119 and is a restricted fund. Donations of £12,760 (excluding tax) have been raised this year. The balance on this campaign at 31 August 2024 is £11,023. With the Trustees Approval, £25,342 was transferred from the Sports Hall alc to the School. Total restricted funds balances were £11,023 at 31 sl August 2024. Unrestricted funds totalled £123,308 at 31 August 2024. During the year, £59,939 was received in donations, which were used to support grants to the School Voluntary Fund. Appointment of Trustees Judith Turyagyenda was invited to become a Trustee based on the skills required by the charity. Re8erves Policy Ststement The reserves held by the Charity enable us to support our main objective of advancing the education of the students at TWGGS. Unrestricted Reserves.. £123,308 Reserves enable us to support our charitable objectives in a consistent way. The spending pressures on schools are not always predictable and the reserves of the Charity enable the Trustees to support the School when required. Grant Making Statement The Charity invites applications for the funding of activities that support the advancement of the education of students at TWGGS. The types of activities include extra-curricular costs incurred in PE, Music, Drama and Debating and other activities approved by the Trustees. It also covers the running costs and repairs for the school minibuses, subscriptions to various associations and school prizes and awards. The Charity in particular invites applications from the Southfield Fund, which contributes towards the trip and fieldwork costs of students, whose parents are experiencing financial difficulties. Applications are supported by appropriate financial documentation and are monitored on an annual basis. Grants are generally made annually to 'TWGGS Clubs, on approval of the Trustees. Investment Policy The Charity takes a totally risk averse approach to investing its reserves. Consequently, investments are held in bank reserve accounts to maximise interest. Responslblllties and basis of report As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requiremenls of the Charities Act 2011 {"the Act"). I report in respect of my examination of the Charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Acl and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)Ib> of the Act. Independent I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have examiner's Statement come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect.. the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act., or the accounts did not accord with the accounting records., or the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair, view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
