## **Report of the trustees**

## **Charitable objects**

The RCCG (Redeemed Christian Church of God) Garden of Hope International is established for the advancement of the Christian faith worldwide in accordance with the doctrines set out in the Statement of Faith contained in the Schedule, and also for the relief of poverty

## **Fixed assets**

Full disclosures on all matters relating to fixed assets are set out in note 5 to the financial statements.

## **HIGHLIGHTS OF ACHIEVEMENT FOR THE YEAR**

- In 2023, we had programs designed to encourage our local assembly and to bless the wider community.

- In January, we had our annual Integrity Conference with guest Speakers ministers virtually. We welcomed a few more members to join the congregation. That was a blessing.

- We maintained Sunday services in the building and stayed online for our week- day meetings and night vigils

- We have continued to use social media effectively. We also helped organise a football tournament that involved local churches. This was held in football grounds and supported by local footie coaches.

- In May, we celebrated our anniversary and invited the community and friends.

- For Christmas, we had food packages delivered to specific families in need.

- We started meeting for Sunday services with a hybrid approach of streaming live for members who were vulnerable or had underlying health issues.

- We kept up with this through the year. We maintained Sunday services in the physical building and stayed online for our week- day meetings.

- As a Church, our desire is to obtain a building that we will have full access to for services. This will enable us to have earlier Sunday morning services and help us introduce more regular community-based events.

## **Statements of trustees’ responsibilities**

Charity law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity at the year end and of its incoming resources and resources expended during that year. In preparing those financial statements, the trustees are required to:

- Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them constantly;

- Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;

- State weather applicable accounting standard and statements of recommended practice have been followed subject to any departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; and

- Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue its business.

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 1993. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

## **Independent Examiner**

The services of New Bond Accountants were engaged as an independent examiner during the year and the trustees recommended that they remain until further notice.

This report was approved by the trustees on **30 October 2024** and signed on its behalf by:

## **Independent examiners report to the trustees on the unaudited financial statements:**

We report on the financial statements of RCCG GARDEN OF HOPE INTERNATIONAL for the year ended 31 December 2023 which comprise the statement of financial activities, the balance sheet and the related notes. These financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and the accounting policies set out therein.

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiners**

As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts, the consider that the audit requirement of section 43(2) of the charities Act 1993 (the act) does not apply. It is our responsibility to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the account presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such, matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently we do not express and audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.

## **Independent examiners’ statement**

In connection with our examination, no matter has come to our attention:

   - which gives us reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements

- To keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the Act; and

      - To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the Act

      - Have not been met; or

   - (2) To which, in our opinion, attention should be drawn to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached
