The Institute's aim is to promote high quality education outcomes for all children and young people, regardless of social background by employing an impartial and evidence based approach. In addition to its focus on raising standards in education from early years through to higher education and beyond, the EPI's also researches young people's mental health.

Objects: The Purposes Of The Charity ("The Objects") Are:the Non-Partisan Advancement Of Education Of The Public In The Economic Social And Political Sciences And Their Effect On Public Policy And The Policy-Making Process In The UK And The Promotion And Publication Of Objective Research; Andany Other Purposes Deemed Charitable Under The Law Of England And Wales.
