The trustees submit their annual rep)rt and financi￿ statem¢nts for the year ended
31 December 2023. The trustees have adoptcd the provision of the Statement of
Recommended Accounting Practicc, Accounting and Rewrting by Charities
(SORP 2005) issu¢d in May 2008.
In preparing the atmual rewrt and fiJ)ancial slatements the trustees have taken
advantsge of the concessions allowed for smaller charities.
The charity. which is also known as-Th¢ Greek Orthodox Community of th¢ Virgin
Mary Eleousa" w&s registered on I l February 2004.

Review of objectives, activities and achievements:
(a)
To advance the Greek Orthodox faith.
Sunday s¢rvice in Church is n]aintained to high stsDdards and to continue this,
the good remuneration of the resident priest has been maintsined.
(b)
To advanc¢ education and in particular but not exclusively education in the G￿ek
Orthodox culDJre, includiDg the Greek Language. dancing and dram&
During the year w¢ accommodated Greek dancing and cultural events and drama
through the Supplementary Greek School for tkrby and Nottingham. The ckwity
supporL8 the operation of the two Greek Schools by providing facilities such as
making available th¢ Community Hall for school events for dram& festivities for
Christm&s celebrations and Easter. as well &$ for teaching.
The relief of the elderly, sick and disabled members of the Greek Community in
particular through the supp)rL financial or otherwise, of such activities as lunch
clubs-
The charity made available during the year. the Community Hall, on a regular b&sis
for communal me¢tings of the elderly where to coffee, cak¢s ¢tc were provided.
The charity supported through the 8uxiliary gxiety "Philoptoxos"
the help and support for the elderly and the sick member of out community.

To provide or assist in the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure time
occupation in the interest of social welfare with the object of improving th¢
onditions of life of the said beneficiaries. in particular but not ex¢lusively, the
younger and older members of the community.
The Community Hall is always made available for community events, promoting the
objectives of the charity. for religiou& educational. cultural and clwitabl¢ purposes,
and we have improved th¢ faciliti¢s for the younger and elder members of the
community.

statetnent.
All assets of the charity are held by the trustees in tnL8t for th¢ charity.

My examination w&8 carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by
the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting
records k¢pt by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those
records. It also includes consideralion of any unusual items or disclosures in the
accounts, seeking explanations from you as Inistees concerning any such matters.
The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in
an audit. and consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the
accounts.
