## **Details**

Charity Name: Farnham Round Table Charitable Trust Fund

Charity Number: 1102040

Address: 36, Talbot Road, Farnham, Surrey, GU9 8RP

Trustees: Mr. Nigel Davison Chairman, Mr. Alexander Donald Vice Chairman, Mr. Ian Jacob Membership Secretary

## **Charity Structure**

Farnham Round Table Charitable Trust Fund “the Charity” is the charitable fund of the Farnham Round Table Club “the Club”. The Club raises money for the Charity through a number of community events.

The Charity is governed by trustees selected from the management committee of the Club. All members of the management committee are elected by members of the Club at its AGM. The Charity is an unincorporated association representing the charitable activities of the Club. Charitable grants and donations are voted on by members in regular meetings, with a simple majority being sufficient to carry the vote. Recipients of these grants are brought to the attention of the Club by its members, or through approaching the Club directly.

Neither the Charity, nor the Club hold any property. There are no custodian trustees for the Charity.

NB. During voting at the 2023 AGM, Mr. Nigel Davison was elected as Chairman

## **Activities and Objectives**

There are two core objectives of the Club: to promote fun, fellowship, and personal development; and to provide community service. It is the latter of these that the Charity supports.

The Club runs several key events in the local community. These aim to both raise money for the Charity, and to provide the community with entertainment and reason to get together.

The key Club activities on the calendar are:

- Farnham Charity Bike Ride & Sportive

- Farnham Fireworks and Torchlit Procession

- Christmas Tree sales

- Santa’s Sleigh collections

- Several informal social gatherings for members

## **Achievements and Performance**

## **Event Roundup**

The Farnham Charity Bike Ride was well attended, and raised over £3,000 for the Charity. This was significantly lower than previous years due to our primary sponsor being unable to make payment as the company ceased operating.

The third year of Christmas Tree sales went well and the Charity raised nearly £4,000 after costs, an increase on the previous year. We were able to take advantage of an additional supplier with a much shorter lead time, giving us more flexibility to accept later orders than in previous years.

Santa’s Sleigh continues to bring great joy to the local area, and six routes were covered compared to the four routes of previous years. Hundreds of children and families came out to see Santa appearing on their streets, waving at the big fella. The Charity was delighted to donate 100% of the proceeds to the local food bank, giving nearly £5,000 to Farnham Food Bank.

Finally, the Farnham Fireworks and Torchlit Procession continues to be the biggest fundraiser organised by the Club. To ensure a safe limit of attendance a cap of 10,000 people was put in place for ticket sales, though as demand was slightly softer than the previous year, the actual number of attendees was slightly fewer. Takings were down accordingly, with the Charity raising £42,000.

We remain reliant on the dedication of the Club members, to continue to deliver all these events, and have been able to recruit some new members which will help when organising the 2023 events.

## **Charitable Donations**

Including the aforementioned £4,769 donation to the local food bank at Christmas, the success of the Club’s events allowed the Charity to make over £40,000 of donations to local causes. This is a source of great pride for the Club members; that they have been able to give back so generously to the community they are a part of.

Notable donations include £5,000 to help a local scout group to rebuild their scout hut, £3,000 to 40Degreez which provides local community and youth services, and £2,500 towards the cost of a new greenhouse for Space2Grow, a charity supporting local families. A full breakdown of all donations can be found in the Financial Review below.

## **Financial Review**

## **Reserves and Debts**

The Charity’s largest risk is the cancellation of the fireworks event. This is due to financial outlay being required far in advance of the event, regardless of whether it proceeds or not. The trustees continue to ensure that a reserve fund of £20,000 is maintained, to smooth cash flow in the lead up to the event, and to ensure that event cancellation will not result in the Charity being unable to meet its commitments.

The Charity has no debts.
