Until May 2020 he was a partner in Pin8ent Masons and practised pensions law. He was chair of the Association of Pension Lawyers from 2CM)7 to 2009 and is a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institut8. He acted in relation to many landmark nsiOn cases, induding the ITN case and BESTrustees v Stuart, both of which explored the interaction befvn explanatory literature and trust documentation. He acted for the trustees of Anglo United Pension Scheme arKI the Dexion Scheme, and in the prockss helped prompt the eslablishment of the DWP'S Financial Assistance Scheme. He is the author of Tolley's Pensions Cases. the definttNe Vrt< on the subied and currently edits the pensions cases section of Tollels Pensions Law. He did his general professional and specialist medical oncology training on the London carcuit, and became a femow of the Royal College of Physicians. He obtained his PhD in biochemistry in 1995 from the London Research Institute {nt)W known as the CRICKIIUniversity College London and was that year appointed as a senior 18clurerlhonorary consuftant in medical oneology at Charing Cross Hosprtal in London. now part of Imperial College London. He then established his own rw8ear¢h groups yrkIng on cell signalling in lung can¢xr and trophobla$ti¢ cancers supported by grants from Cancer Research UK. the Medical Research Council. Wellcome TTUSt, Wellbeing. industry. and others. He was promoted to reader in 2002 and professor of molecular oncology in 2004, when he a150 took on the directorship of the Charing Cross Gestational Trophoblaslic Diseasè Centre and Ihe SUpra910Thal Tumour Marker Assay serv1. Professor Seckl also leads the Imperial College Experimental Canr Medicine Cenlre. the Imperial Cancer Trials unil, runs the London Lung Cancer Alliance and has run multiple Phase 1-111 trials. He is on the editorial board of several journals and chairslsits on several grants committees. He is the immediate past-pre$ident of the Royal Society of Mèdicine Oncology section and European organisatn for the Treatment of Trophoblaslic Oisease. He was also pasl president and is the current treasurer of the International Society for the Study of Trophoblasti¢ Disease and holds an honorary professorship with th& Peking Union Medical College in China. He also established and now co-leads the gynaecological cancEr domain wrthin the European Rare Adult Cancer Neknrk IEURACANI. Educationally, he was director of postgraduate studies for the Depathent of Surgery and C8n¢er with overall responsibility for 200 MSdMRes and 400 PhD students between 2012- 2022. Within his own research group, he and his leam have Tl¥ed numerous national and inlernational awards and in the past 5 years have raised over £18M of grant income. REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024 Nicci Wyborn Nicci is a Senior Pensions Consuttant in the Pinsent Masons Pensions Solutions buSIsS at Pinsenl Masons. In her current role she specialises in risk, goveman¢e and project management setvices for clients wrth both defined benefit IDBI and defined contr*)ution IDCI pension schemes, working closely with trustee boards, Pensions Managers and HR D1CtorS. Clients indude a £5.5 billion pension scheme IDBIDCI, a £1 billion pension s¢heme IDBlwth AVCS). a £700 million pension scheme (open DB) and £300 million pension scheme {DBIDCI. Nicci had been at Pinsent Masons for neady 23 years starting her Caer 8$ a PA in the pensKJns group, before moving to Pinsent Masons Pensions Solutions in 2017. Ni1 had lung surgery in 2018 for a carcinoid lung tumour so the WO funded by the charity is extremely important to her. Res ective Res onsibilities of Trustees and Examiner The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 {"the Charities Act") and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to= examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act, lo follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission {under section 145{5}{bl of the Charities Act. and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basls of Examlnerfs Re ort My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented wilh those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees conceming any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair, view and the report is limited lo those matters set out in the statement below. Contingent and future liabilities are not included, except where mentioned below by narrative note. Assets are shown at their value at the balance sheet date. Income Tax (In. Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and Inheritance Tax (IHT) The trust, as a charity, is exempt from IT and CGT on its investment income and capital gains. None of the restrictions on this relief, imposed by tax legislation, apply for this year.
