| Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document Para 1.17 To advance the education of pupils in the school through management of events and fundraising, in consultation with the school Governing Body, and by the provision of facilities or items that could not be provided from the school’s statutory funds. To develop a more extended relationship between parents, staff and others associated with the school. |
||
| Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts. |
Para 1.17 and 1.19 |
The uniform shop remains our largest fundraiser, supported by donations from parents of pre-loved uniform items. Membership subscriptions increased from the previous year, and the Lottery continued to raise funds in-line with the success of the previous year. Fundraising was boosted by sales of photographs, and fees paid from an external source for our support at providing marshalling at organised race events. We brought back the Summer Fayre after several years absence, and also hosted a year 7 disco, both as fundraising events but also to meet our commitment to support the ongoing relationship between Parents/Carers and School. We continue to provide a GDPR compliant communications platform to parent members. Grants made to school included £22,039 for the provision of external seating and tables, plus expenditure to support staff requests, including the Teachers Wishlist for its third successful year raising approximately £4,500 of gifts the majority being direct Parent/Carer donations. |
| Statement confirming whether the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit |
Para 1.18 | The RSPA Trustees are mindful of the guidance published by and available from the Charities Commission website. |

| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | We are delighted to have received £26,837 from our various activities and income streams, and to have added to the much-needed external seating around School premises. In addition, organising the Teachers Wishlist means that School benefits from direct appreciation from Parents/Carers. The gift notes delivered with these gifts were passed on to the Teachers, and the comments made, and the appreciation transferred was an enormously positive experience for all. |

Financial Review
==> picture [452 x 485] intentionally omitted <==
----- Start of picture text -----
Review of the charity’s Para 1.21 We are in a good position, having
financial position at the end provided direct grants to School of
of the period £23,351 in 2023-24 but having a closing
balance in our accounts at just £3,281
less than we started the year with. (This
being a closing cash balance of £46,608
versus an opening cash balance of
£49,889)
We look forward to 2024-25 where we
will work with the Governing Body to
financially support their ambitions for
investment into audio and visual
technology upgrades to their Lecture
Hall. This is of particular benefit both to
the students’ learning experience as
well as assisting School with their own
fundraising drive, with 2025 being the
900th anniversary of Reading School.
We also still maintain the larger sum of
our funds in an interest-bearing bank
account. This was a successful policy
for 2023-24 and should continue to
benefit us in 2024-25.
Statement explaining the Para 1.22 The RSPA does not have an official
policy for holding reserves policy for holding a reserve, but
stating why they are held unofficially a balance of £10k is borne in
mind.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 £10k, which was exceeded and never at
risk.
