We would like to start establish the Squirrel section in Oct. Subject to approval and preparations, sign a partnership agreement with District Provision Northwinds Explorer Scout Unit looking to start in October.

The group has a great Trustee Board and looking forward to recruiting additional Trustee members to support the Leaders in running a fantastic programme and developing the premises with support from Clive Mason our District Commisioner. Alhamdullillah the Trustee Board has managed to secure funds and nearly completed Phase 1 Hall works covering toilets, main hall, second hall, electrics, fire safety systems, flooring. There is still alot of work to be done and improvements made, we look forward to your support in fundraising and raising awareness. Look forward to the progressing the Hall improvements and developing activities like bouldering wall and tomahawk.

For Parents and Guardians, alot goes into organising and planning events, so if you have committed and booked for sessions, trips please do attend unless mitigating circumstances. We have had an exciting year and hope to continue an amazing programme next year.

I would like to thank the parents / guardians for supporting their young people and the Group. ## Beaver Colony Report

## AGM Report 2022-2023

It has been an amazing year for Beavers, full of laughter and growth. During the year we had Beavers move up to cubs and new beavers joining us leaving us with a total of 18 Beavers. 3 Young leaders.

Over the last year the Beavers met every Monday 6-7:30pm.

The Beavers colony participated in a number of activities in line with the following badges: Creative badge, Space, book reader badge, gardener badge (team effort), safety, health and fitness, camp craft- made a fire and roasted marshmallows, communicator impressed with beavers ability to memorise their parent’s phone number, photographer (beautiful poster).

There have been a number of trips organised by the District and I would like to thank them greatlyThere was the exciting sleepover at Airhop which the Beavers thoroughly enjoyed and did incredibly well with for some beavers being their first time sleepover. The trail walk which was a lovely day out. I would really encourage parents to take up the opportunities of these events. Beavers are able to witness that they are a part of a large community of beavers.

We have also had trips organised MSF- During winter there was the MSF Olympics in London, where the Beavers participated in Olympic games competing with other groups across the country with one of our Beavers, Ammarah achieving a silver medal in throwing.

We had a break for Ramadan, however weekly iftars were organised at the scout hall and there was an Eid party!

Our award system 'Beaver of the week' has been working well as it is a good method of recognising good behaviour and encouraging beavers to try their best.

In order for the children to get the most out of the session, please ensure that they attend regularly and for sessions they miss it would be good to make up the requirements for badges at home.

The sessions will run Monday 6-7:30pm during the summer depending on beaver and parent availability so each week it is important for parents to say if they are coming to the sessions or not.

I would like to thank all parents for your continued commitment and support to beavers, I hope your child is enjoying being part of the beaver colony. I would really encourage beavers to get their uniform. We have hope to continue to support your child’s development. I welcome parents to get in touch to organise with their talents and skills and to share them with the beavers in the sessions. Thank you!

Jazakallah Khair and Thank you!

Mariam Cheema Assistant Beaver Scout Leader

We started squirrel section in September and alhumdulilah we have made a great start with 10 members. We have made our squirrel tree and met our Drey mascot "Mr Squirrel" and learnt our special squirrel song.

The squirrels are busy learning all about our scout family and getting to know their drey as well as their leaders. We are excited to get our youngest members of our scout family invested and as ever are keen to get some regular volunteers which will allow us to take on more squirrels as we currently have ten squirrels in our Drey. Working towards progressing the leadership team roles.

1[st] Bristol Annual Report Oct 2023

8. MSF International Jamboree 2023

9. The Wave – Body Boarding

10. Fortnightly Archery, Air Rifle and Crossbow sessions.

Overall, Cubs are very well behaved, enthusiastic and keen to challenge boundaries and promote inquisitive thought and questions. These are all positive behaviours and attitudes to admire and instil into the pack. They have developed in confidence and are keen to help each other out whilst maintaining a healthy level of competiveness. There are 4 cub’s who are currently on track to achieve the Silver award and I believe with the correct guidance from our leaders, they will no doubt be able to receive this prestigious award.

To summarise, I would like to thank all the parent helpers, Akela Zia and Assistant Leader’s Sara, Shaaista and Faiza for their continued support and help. So much time, effort and enthusiasm go into planning, and delivering each session so smoothly would be impossible without them. They are an absolute credit to the team.

Let’s maintain this energy and momentum into the next year!

Suneya Azad (Captain Princess) Cubs Scout Leaders

## Scout Troop Report

## Scout Troop report

Alhamdulillah we currently have 24 Scouts, meeting on Thr 7-8:30pm.

UPDATE

Even though we have had leaders and scouts absent with covid during the year, we have managed to keep the sessions running each week throughout. A special thanks to the GSL, leaders and parent helpers for stepping in to ensure the scout programme has run smoothly.

Scouts have been working towards various badges i.e. cookery, creativity, sports enthusiast, orienteering, sailing, pioneering etc. We have taken part in activities hosted locally by the district i.e. Airhop sleep-over & Monopoly Run and nationally by Muslim Scout Federation (MSF) i.e. MSF Olympics & MSF summer camp. Inshallah we hope with the complete easing of restrictions, our scouts will be able to take part in more scouting activities in the following scouting year.

First Bristol have welcomed visitors from Bristol Waste, Feed the homeless, the community police and Gliding association.

With the ongoing renovation of the scouts hut, we will continue to run our sessions outdoors, focussing on the farming badge, preparing for our hike and the MSF Olympics. In the coming months 1[st] Bristol scouts are planning a charity Bristol-Bath bike ride, kayaking, MSF Olympics, a hike and group camp inshallah.

1[st] Bristol Annual Report Oct 2023 Jazakallah, to all the parents who already regularly support the scouts by volunteering at sessions. As the group grows we need more parent volunteers to come forward and put their name down on the weekly parent rota. Having this resource will allow us to deliver a stronger and more varied programme.
