OBJECTniES AND ACTivrriES
Objectlves and aims
The compan￿9 objeclives and principal activities are to a8SiSt and re5ieve patlents and fomier patients of the
North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre by provision of grants or equlpment and to provide a residantial
Care facility at 6 Weld Road, Southport.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Charitsblo activities
The new veh￿Ie has b￿n convwted and is belng w811 used by the residents. The garden areas have been
much Im[￿ed with specia stations for pottlng plant5 and also a new potting shed was ￿J711 allowing
residents to fijlly utilise their gardening skills. Plan8 for a new weenhouse are in hand 8fter winter stomis
severely damaged the strU￿re. We slill provide toilatrles for patients of the Spinal Unit and travel expense8
for their relattves.

Our Residential home, 6 Weld Rd has contlnued with good occ#Jpancy levels aKled by the Spinal Unlt
(￿treaCh programme. There was a feasonable Increase in care fu￿lIng from the looa authorlties although
there has been a reductlon in our provtslon of respite care.
Reserves policy
It Is the policy of the company to malntain unrestrlcted funds at a lev81 whi(A) equates to a mlnlmum of one
years running costs for 6 Weld Road. The current level of re8erves stands at £751.703 (2024.. £793.686).
comprising all unrestricted net assets excluding the tangible fixed assets. This equates to approxirnately 18
months, running costs, 7fvhich is considered necessary by the trustees in light of the fact that the charty has
operated at a deficlt for several years exacerbated by th810s8 of a major source of grant funding.

The directors of the company are also charity trustees for the purp)ses of charity law and under the
¢ompanV8 Artides are known as the ExecLrtive Committee. Trustees are elected from the general
membership following long term involvement with the d)arity. Specific sklll requirements are identiAed and
appropriate persons are approached for their input and involvement. Executive offws are elected to serve
every year.

The charlty elects the Exewtive Committ80 who meet six times per year io review and ¢ontrol the operalions
of Ihe charity. The membership meets monthly and is requested to ratfy any Executive Committe6
decision8. A Management Commlttee Is appointed by Executlve and 18 charged with responsibility for the
ongolng running of the Residential home. 6 Weld Road, with a full time manager, M Cheetham, appointed for
the day to day management decisions.
In setting our objectlves planning our activities. the trustee5 have given careful conlderalon to the
Charty Commlsslon's general guidance on publlc beneflL
Related partles
There is a close worklng relationship with the Regional Spinal Injuries Centre and also apwoprlate Local
Authorlty Departments covering many aspects of the requirements of our target dlents. We have re
enforced our mutual working relationship wlth the Spinal Injuries Associat5on and with other rdated charities
both national and local.

The trustees have appolnted professional advl8ors to ensure Ihe contlnulng cx)mpliance with current
legislation and to a8SiSt with 811 risk ass8ssments. A thorough revlew of insurances cover has been
urKlertaken in thls year.
