Chairnian's Re
ort
for the Year Ended 31 March 2025
The Chair presents her statement for the year.
l am pleased to report that the ch8rily, under the leadership of our Chief Executive Officer Hollie Benton, has continued
lo provide excellent services lo our local community and across Ihe counly. This year has been nolable as for the first
lime in many years Ihe charity achieved a slight surplus.
W8 do not remain complacént though. The Board are very aware of the significant challenges that V•Y fac8 both
financially and operalionalSy. We conlinue lo work wlh Ihe Executive team through the Board and sub cA)mmillees lo
review the quality ol services wa provldé for the people here lo seNe.
Sound financial planrilng and the development ol addilional services has meant thal we remain linanclally vlable whllst
al the same lim8 continuing lo Improve the quality and quantity of the services we provide across the whole of
DeTbyshire. North Nollinghamshire and Easl Slaffordshire.
Looking after and involving our staff in declsionamaking has become a key pari of our success. The Board strongly
believe that creating a culture of inclusSvene8s and valuing the people that provlde our wonderful servic68 is key to our
success. That is why when Ihe business plan is rewewed annually. the whole leam are involved in the process. I would
Ilke lo thank Zoe Gillbe one of our Trustees for continuing lo lead us in this process.
We do of course rely heavily on our wonderful volunteers. They are the core of ev8rythlng we are able to prthrfde, and
we remain truly grateful lo all of our volunteers for every hour thal they provide freely of their time.
Thls appreciation Oxtends to the Trustees. Each and every one of them gives up slgnlficant lime both wilhln commillee
and outside lo support the executive in the wnning of the charity- We remain very proud of our governance structure
and the quality of our r6POrtlng systems and assurance pr￿sSeS all of which hav6 culminated in the success of the
last year.
Over this year have conlinued wilh our mission lo support commissioners by providing seNices to people in their
own homes. You wll read in our annual impact report, a story about how the charity supported one lady after discharge
and you'll see the impact of all the small changes Ihal made both in adaplalions to her home, lo the support wlh
dally tasks like shopping gelling lo her hospital appointmenl and just having someone Ihere lo talk to. Many of us take
for granted in our daily lives our ability to do these simple tasks ourselves bul just sometimes life changes following an
illness and il's these seemingly small things Ihat make a big differenc£ lo someono living alone.
Thls year has been partlcularly difficult for ever￿n6 and partI￿laty our commlssioners who ar8 constanlly having to
look for efficiency savings. We would like lo express commitmenl lo supporting our partners and all those who
support us through donations in the following year. These are very difficult and challenging times. bul remain
commilled lo providing excellence with our partners to thé peopl6 of our ￿Cal communily and beyond.
Flnally, I would like agaln lo thank all our dedlcated and caring slaff, our wonderful volunteers and the Trustees for all
their hard work and commitment lo the uses ol our services. The impact of your hard work and dedicalion continues to
make a difference to lh8 people we serve.
