Downs Farm Trust Annual Report of the Trustees
Charity's activities and achievements during the period
We continue to provide care and support to the resident animals at the farm and help as many animals as we can whilst maintaining help and education to members of the public where we can.
This year we welcomed a new long term resident dog who arrives with us in the worst state possible having been found dumped by a member of the public. She required a lot of care and nursing to bring her back to full health but she is now happy and thriving with us here.
We were also contacted by another rescue who had a dog in their care that they were struggling to find a home for due to her size and behaviour issues. We were happy to offer her a permanent place here at the farm where she can live happily with the other dogs and as such her behaviour issues are not a problem.
We held a fundraising event with a friend of one of the Trustees who sings professionally and we raised a small amount for the charity selling tickets and a raffle.
The charity shop continues to be a valuable source of income and a way of communicating with the general public to raise awareness of animal welfare.
We continue to promote the charity via social media.
Our trustees as ever provide welcome financial support buying supplies for the shop, helping with maintenance bills and buying feed/supplies etc..
With raising costs of feed, hay etc it is becoming increasingly more expensive to look after the animals.

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011(‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trustee’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act.
Independent examiner’s statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
(1) the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or
(2) the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
(3) the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
