TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30[TH] JUNE 2023

The Trustees are pleased to present their Annual Report and Accounts for the year ended 30[th] June 2023. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out on page 13 and comply with the charity’s trust deed and applicable law.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

The charity is governed by its constitution and by-laws adopted 16[th] March 2002 as amended on 2[nd] November 2003 and its objects are the advancement of the Christian faith and the worship of God in the United Kingdom and overseas by any means whatsoever, the relief of persons who are in conditions of need or distress or who are aged or sick, and the advancement of education on the basis of Christian principles. Trustees are selected for their experience and skills required of the Board at each stage. The Board is authorised to appoint new trustees to fill vacancies arising through resignation or death of an existing trustee.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Our theme for the year to September 2022 continued as the Year of Spiritual Warfare changing in October 2022 to become the “ Year of Wonders ”. On 30[th] October 2022, Pastor David said that Israel would become central to the world stage and would attract great controversy. He declared that although Israel was not perfect, God was still working our His promises through her and that Christians should be prepared to stand with Israel, even as the world would turn against her. We have since seen this word confirmed by world events.

We have been blessed by the ministry of visiting ministers, generally from others whose churches are nearby. On 10[th] July 2022 Pastor Jeronne Rudder ministered for us, and on September 4[th] 2022, Senior Pastor Nick Hughes , also from the nearby Emmanuel Pentecostal Church ministered. On July 31[st] Pastor Andrew Junaid from Brook Lane Community Church ministered for us on the topic of obedience is rest as we opened a six part series on “ Rest is. .” Our own fellowship now has a number of able ministers to draw on including: Minister David Chambers; Deaconess Deon Thompson; Deacon Francis Okonkwo; Bro Joshua Okusanya; and Sister Ola George; in addition to our two pastors David and Sandra French. The church has been able to draw on these and particularly whilst our Pastors took a short break from ministry over the summer.

On 11[th] August 2022 our over 13’s made a visit to Thorpe Park where the rides, friendship, fun and weather were greatly enjoyed by all who took part. On August 27[th] a few of our men spent a half day trout fishing and were remined of the scripture “ but that night they caught nothing .” John 21:3 [emphasis added’.]

In September 2002 we began a new seven part series entitled “ God is ..” During October we fasted on Yom Kippur , October 5[th] and ended the day with evening prayers. Then during the first three days of “ Tabernacles (10[th] -12[th] October) we also had a period of prayer and fasting .

Culture Day Meal

On October 20[th] 2022, our brothers met online via Zoom in one of their scheduled monthly meet ups. On October 30[th] 2022, Pastor David announced the theme for the new spiritual year, that of “ Year of Wonders ”.

On Sunday 20[th] November we were blessed by the ministry of Evangelist Gbenga Akindele who led an evangelistic service.

Our ladies met regularly during most months of the year on the first Friday of the month and ended their year with a Ladies Night Out Christmas celebration.

On 18[th] December 2022 we celebrated our Youth and Children’s Christmas Sunday followed by food. The following Sunday was Christmas Day and so we held a one hour service from 10am to 11am by Zoom and exchanged Christmas greetings with each other at the end.

Our premises found other uses during the year. Meistad Eden , an Assemblies of God church hired our premises on a few occasions for meetings. During September and October 2022 our premises were used for filming by the BBC , and we temporarily held meetings nearby at the premises of Christ Faith Assembly Outreach who kindly made them available for us to use.

On the evening of December 31[st] 2022 until a little while into the first hour of 2023 we celebrated our Cross Over service with the theme, “The Wonder of Crossing Over”.

TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30[TH] JUNE 2022 - continued

During the final two weeks of the month we held an emphasis on fasting and prayer as we sought God’s favour and intervention during 2023. From January 2023 we were following a “ Wonders Series ” that lasted a full 16 weeks.

Our leadership team of six met periodically, and we did so on Saturday 18[th] January followed shortly after by a meeting of the CTRM board on 21[st] January 2023 where Deacon Francis Okonkwo was appointed to the board. Our leaders scheduled monthly meetings until April as we continued to set our plans for the year. Our under 13’s began to meet by Zoom on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. Our prayer meetings were held every Wednesday from 7pm until about 8:15pm by Zoom.

On Sunday 9[th] April 2023 we held a baptismal service with 3 candidates. Our “Wonders series” ended on 16[th] April 2023 with the theme, “The Wonder of Healing”. The next week we began a new series entitled, “Discipleship 101”.

In June 2023 Pastor David began to help with occasional prison chaplaincy work at a prison in Kent at the invitation of the senior chaplaincy leader.

We thank God for another year where we have enjoyed His favour and much time together in sweet fellowship whilst being able to serve our community.
