Sandra French 2 ## **CHRIST THE ROCK MINISTRIES** ## **TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30[TH] JUNE 2022** The Trustees are pleased to present their Annual Report and Accounts for the year ended 30[th] June 2022. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out on page 13 and comply with the charity’s trust deed and applicable law. ## **STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT** The charity is governed by its constitution and by-laws adopted 16[th] March 2002 as amended on 2[nd] November 2003 and its objects are the advancement of the Christian faith and the worship of God in the United Kingdom and overseas by any means whatsoever, the relief of persons who are in conditions of need or distress or who are aged or sick, and the advancement of education on the basis of Christian principles. Trustees are selected for their experience and skills required of the Board at each stage. The Board is authorised to appoint new trustees to fill vacancies arising through resignation or death of an existing trustee. ## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES** As is usual, our church year spanned two calendar years. Our theme for calendar 2021 was ‘ **A Year to Know God** ’ and our theme verse was Daniel 11:32 ‘but the people who know their God will be strong and take action’. Our theme for calendar 2022 was ‘ **Spiritual Warfare’** and our theme verse was 2 Corinthians 10:4 “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful NASB. The post-pandemic global recovery began in earnest around the same time as our new church year. On 1[st] July 2021, we celebrated our 20[th] Church Anniversary together just as UK lockdown restrictions were finally easing off. Services were held in person at our premises in Leegate on Sundays and we also produced a live Zoom broadcast. This broadcast helped us to record messages from Sunday and other materials that we used for our **Youtube channel** that became officially named ‘ **CTRM1** ” during the year. 3 ## **CHRIST THE ROCK MINISTRIES** ## **TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30[TH] JUNE 2022 - continued** Technology is now very much part of our live services The Sunday messages began to mainly follow in series during 2022 and there was an effort to widen the ministry of the word and include our youth more in leading services. This involved giving our own leaders and members opportunities to speak alongside Pastors David and Sandra French and amongst those who did so were: Deaconess Deon Thompson, Minister David Chambers, Deacon Francis Okonkwo and Brother Joshua Okusanya. Outside speakers included Pastor Nick Hughes, Pastor Jeronne Rudder, Minister Gbenga Akindele, Pastor Andrew Junaid and Minister Chacko Thomas. The focus of 2022 was on our main theme of **Spiritual Warfare** including a series on **Spiritual Armour** based on Ephesians 6:10-20. Minister David Chambers 5 ## **CHRIST THE ROCK MINISTRIES** ## **TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30[TH] JUNE 2022 - continued** Amongst our membership we saw many members being promoted or beginning new career paths. With hindsight we now realise that some of this was caused by some other people leaving their regular jobs as the pandemic and three lockdowns led them to pursue lifestyle and career changes that involved new career paths or moving out of the city to the countryside. It took a few months even amongst our own members for church services to return to pre-pandemic attendance levels. Evangelism in terms of door to door or street evangelism stopped whilst the community still tended to maintain social distancing. On July 24[th] we planned to hold a church Fun & Sports Day in nearby Sutcliffe Park but the weather forecast was adverse and so we cancelled the event. In the evening Pastor David preached at the Building Dedication service for Christ Family Assembly Outreach at their new building in Swanley. During September we held two periods of prayer and fasting to correspond with Yom Kippur, Jewish New Year and the Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement reflecting the Jewish roots of the Christian faith. During the month our pastors David and Sandra celebrated their 35[th] wedding anniversary. 6 ## **CHRIST THE ROCK MINISTRIES** ## **TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30[TH] JUNE 2022 - continued** Pastors’ 35[th] Wedding Anniversary Deaconess Deon Thompson at Culture Day On 17[th] October 2021 we held our Culture Day where members may wear a national dress associated with their birth, ancestry, or heritage. Some will sing, dance, perform plays or sketches, or even stand-up comedy, or read poetry. Afterwards a great time was had by all the event was crowned with international cuisine from the different cultures represented, that members and visitors brought with them. 7 ## **CHRIST THE ROCK MINISTRIES** ## **TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30[TH] JUNE 2022 - continued** Red Cap Chief Deacon Okonkwo Sis Teresa Wambiro – Kikuyu Culture In November 2021 one of our long-standing members, Sis Juney Waite, was preparing to return to Jamaica to make her home there. She had previously served for years at the Soul Refresh Café run by the church. In December we presented an appreciation plaque to our own members Sister Juney Waite and Sister Dolly Bariffe in appreciation of their hard work in the church and for years spent assisting at Soul Refresh Café. We also celebrated Christmas together on 19[th] December 2021, still wearing facemasks due to a spike in Covid numbers. Below Deaconess Rani Okonkwo celebrates. 8 ## **CHRIST THE ROCK MINISTRIES** ## **TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30[TH] JUNE 2022 – continued** Pastor with Sis Juney Waite Our celebration of Queen’s Jubilee CTRM and Pastor David continued to be active in the local community. Our Platinum Jubilee event was to bring people from the local community together after a challenging period. Everything was free (funded by ourselves) and the response was very positive. The Portrait of Black Britain exhibition at Bluewater came out of a direct experience of racism by its founder, Cephas Williams, whilst he was shopping there, and was aimed at showing that many black people are very successful across professions, industries and especially as entrepreneurs. **9** ## **CHRIST THE ROCK MINISTRIES** ## **TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30[TH] JUNE 2022 – continued** Queen’s 70th Jubilee Celebration With Cephas Williams, Portrait of Black Britain We thank the Lord that the challenges of the Pandemic in early 2021 truly made it a ‘Year to Know God’. It was during this period that Pastor David began to write and circulate a daily devotional up to six days a week to encourage members during the trying days of the three national lockdowns. Then as we entered 2022 it became a time of ‘Spiritual Warfare’ as we learned to accommodate the new post-pandemic world and seek to restore church attendance and activities. In all of this our members have matured in their faith and become more resilient, and we are grateful to the Lord for this. I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. Independent examiner's I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters statement have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: - the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or - the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or - the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. They are valued at cost or a reasonable value on receipt.
