Our objectives are the advancement of education, and in particular the education of older people and those no longer in full time work, by all means including assoclated acliviliès tonduclve to Learning and personal devÈlopmÈhi ift King's Lynn and its surrounding area. Membership is open to aLI peopLe who are no longer in full-time employment, irrespective of race, religion, politics or gender. We provide facilities for Leisure time and recreationaL activities. The Tru8tee3 have had regard to the guid8nce i55ued by the Charfty Commission Dn pubLic benefit, Achlevements and Performance Membership of King's Lynn u3a hes continued to increase post-covid, with 597 members at the end of 2024, an increase of nearly 25% due to some successful pubLicity. They have been able to enrich their educ8tion by attending monthlytalks, and byjoining a wide variety range of intelLectuaL, physical and social activities org8nised through over 60 speclaL interest groups incLuding book reading, history, learning languages, arts and crafts, several kinds of sporting activities and outings. Flnancial Revlew During the yearwe achieved our objective of being self-fin8ncing and at 31 st December 2024 we held funds of £20,273 before adjustments for debtors and credltors, a small increase over the previous year (£20,017). This is considerod to be more than gufficient to provide adequate financiaL stabiLity and the mean8 to meet our objectives for the foreseeable future. Our principal source of funds is member subscription received as don8tions and recorded accordingly. Our principal items of expenditure are hall hire and the cost of providing refreshments at our monthly meetings. We have been aided by manyvoluntary helpers 8Cting as officers, committee members, group administrators. trip organisers and in other capacities.
Policy on Reserves: Reserves are freely available to fund our general operations. These funds wilL be used to ensure we continue to maintain our charitable objectives as efficiently and as effectively as possibLe. Our income Is largely derived from annual subscriptions paid from January to March of each year. Because there is no other major source of fundingthe Trustees will maintain our reseNes at a level which approximates to six months operational expenditure. Structure, Governance and Management King's Lynn u3a 18 an unincorporated as80ciation. It is a member of the Third Age Trust. It is governed by a Constitution adopted by members on 12 July 2024. Management is vested in the Executive Committee. members of which are Trustees of the charity. The committee is composed of Off icers (a Chair, a Vice-chair, a Treasurer, Secretary and 8 Membership Secretary) and other members making up a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 15. Nominations for committee members are made to the committee. All proposals are put forward to be voted on bythe membership at the AGM. Up to 3 additional committee members may be co-opted by the committee for a maximum of 2 years. All officers and committee member5 retire at every Annual General Meeting. No-one may hold 8ny specific officer p08ition for a period in excess of 6 year8. No-one may hold any combination of off icer positions or non-off icer positions for a period in excess of 9 years In total.
