Objectives : The relief of Poverty and the advancement of Education and the preservation and protection of good health amongst those persons in Goa, India who by their social & economic conditions are in need of assistance.

Report on the activities and finances of the Charity for the twelve months ending 30th September 2022.
This year has again seen a marked upheaval following the pandemic Covid 19.
Educational Sponsorship Scheme.
The schools re-opened after the Covid pandemic in June 2022 and all but two of our students returned to their studies. The families of the remaining two located to their original villages in Karnataka as they were no longer able to sustain an existence in Goa.
The students continue to do well and we have eight who are currently engaged in higher education, studying for degrees, master’s degrees or internships. One of them has completed her master’s degree as is in the process of applying for an assistant professorship at the University of Goa.
Day Care Centre for diferently abled children.
The center was also able to continue treating children with varying disabilities in June 2022 and currently has twenty nine patients in regular attendance. New equipment has been purchased to assist with the treatments including a treadmill and enhanced staircase, both used to help children learn to walk.
Starting Point School.
This pre-school reopened in June 2022 and currently has 20 plus children in regular attendance. Although we contribute to the running of the school we no longer seek sponsors for those leaving to progress to full time education.
Outreach Programme
During the Covid 19 pandemic those living in the slums who made do by accepting low paid jobs mainly in the hospitality industry found that as there were no oversees visitors there was no work. As there is no social state benefits this means that these people have no money to purchase food and basic supplies.
Since the lifting of restrictions on overseas visitors there has been a problem with obtaining visas to visit India resulting in a very slow increase in the number of jobs available.
To combat this staff from Starting Point school have been engaged in purchasing food etc in bulk and making up food parcels sufficient to last each family for a month. Over the past few months they have averaged 50 + such food drops per month and this is expected to continue into our next financial year.
Staf / Volunteers.
We do not employ staff to run the charity in the UK. All administration and fundraising is done voluntarily.
The Indian staff who run the projects in Goa are paid appropriate salaries and we have not had any volunteers operating in Goa during the past year.
Trustees.
One of the trustees retired in January 2022 leaving three trustees, which as we are in the process of running the charity down consider this adequate for the Charity’s needs.
Accounts / Finance.
We are fortunate to maintain a healthy number of supporters that donate monthly and in addition we were pleased to have a very good response to our plea for funds to help finance the monthly food distributions.
Future projections:
Due to the age profile of those responsible for the running of the Charity and not being in a position to employ staff to secure its future the trustees have taken the decision to run our activities down over the next two years
when it is hoped the students will have completed their education and the Day Care Centre will have been successful in securing separate funding.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF NOVI SURVAT CHARITABLE ORGANISATION (GOA)
I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 30 September 2022, which are set out on pages 1 and 2 below.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act), and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:

examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
-
follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
-
state whether particular matters have come to my attention,
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view', and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
(1) which gives me cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records, and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
have not been met; or
(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
