Objectives : The relief of Poverty and the advancement of Education and the preservation and protection of good health amongst those persons in Goa, India who by their social & economic conditions are in need of assistance.

Report on the activities and finances of the Charity for the twelve months ending 30th September 2021.
This year has again seen a marked upheaval following the pandemic Covid 19.
Educational Sponsorship Scheme.
With the closure of schools in Goa due to the Covid 19 virus the students have had to attempt to keep up with their studies via the internet. However the majority of our students come from the slums or very poor families who not only are unable to afford computers or smart phones but live in areas where there is no connectivity. To overcome this students have had to rely on fellow students who come from more affluent families to let them use their electronic devices with this charity paying for ‘air time’. No date has been fixed for the reopening of schools.
Day Care Centre for differently abled children.
On the orders from the government centers such as ours has had to shut due to Covid 19. To overcome this medical staff have organized sessions with the children’s parents to instruct them in the physiotherapy that their children need. To assist the parents our staff have provided instruction videos and make regular visits to the children’s homes to ensure that treatment is taking place.
Starting Point School.
As with all educational establishments the school has been closed since March 2020 and is not expected to reopen until early 2022.
Outreach Programme
Covid 19 in India has meant that the majority of workers residing in the slums and those who are extremely poor have been unable to work. As there is no social state benefits this means that these people have no money to purchase food and basic supplies.
To combat this staff from Starting Point school have been engaged in purchasing food etc in bulk and making up food parcels sufficient to last each family for a month. Over the past few months they have averaged 50 + such food drops per month and this is expected to continue into our next financial year.
Staff / Volunteers.
We do not employ staff to run the charity in the UK. All administration and fundraising is done voluntarily.
The Indian staff who run the projects in Goa are paid appropriate salaries and we have not had any volunteers operating in Goa during the past year.
Trustees.
We continue to have the four trustees that have maintained the charity for the past few years and consider this adequate for the Charity’s needs.
Accounts / Finance.
We are fortunate to maintain a healthy number of supporters that donate monthly and in addition we were pleased to have a very good response to our plea for funds to help finance the monthly food distributions.
Future projections:
Due to the age profile of those responsible for the running of the Charity and not being in a position to employ staff to secure its future the trustees have taken the decision to run our activities down over the next five years when it is hoped the students will have completed their education and the Day Care Centre will have been successful in securing separate funding.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF NOVI SURVAT CHARITABLE ORGANISATION (GOA)
I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 30 September 2021, which are set out on pages 1 and 2 below.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act), and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:

examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
-
follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
-
state whether particular matters have come to my attention,
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view', and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
(1) which gives me cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records, and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
have not been met; or
(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
