In setting our objectives and planning our adivilies our Iruslees have given serious consideration lo the
Charity Commission's general guidance on publK bonefit and in particular promoting independence and

The year has soon the organis81ion come out ol the most ChaI￿n91n9 period in memory. As all the
members are elderly and vulnerable the staff have rallled lo ensure that the Centre continued to rgmain
QP8n and lo be able to supporl Ihgm. As scmnelhing like normalty SI0￿Y returned the Chief Off￿ar
continued to ensure that all govemmenl advice was followed whllst recommencing a range of activities
availab￿ with social distancing measures in place.
Evon though we have gone Ihrough troubling limes we hove continued to b& focused on roduGing soclal
i8olalion and increasing both mèntal and phyEical heath.
The Trustees have continued to have oversighl of the organisation wth service users 8 promingnl role,
making up 5 of the 9 Twstee 8oard members. The other 4 members include fv40 local Councillors, a local
$01Scilor and a Chair vrith long experience of managing charilies.
We have continued lo opgrale 6 days a ￿ek and signpostiThJ $8rvice users with unrecognised needs and
Introduclng attendefjs lo further support netsvorks.
We are ¢on￿lKI8tin9 good working relationships ￿th 8 number of Primary hearth and wder support
nelwork5. The Board's investment in the relail part of Ihe organisalion has Increased 115 financial support lo
the organlsation making us less reliant on histori￿1 fundirKJ sources.
Plan$ for furtur• p•rlod*
The year has been a chalbnging one as the organisation has begun lo retum to some form of normalcy.
However, the future remains uncertain. Fortunately, MEA is in a good positK)n lo meet chaI￿n91n9 times
ahead wlh strong and creative managomenl and sound finances. Previous lo the pandemic th8 Board had
agreed lo look at ways of r¢dU￿TrJ account surplus lo 6 months running costs and look at means of
increasing the range of services and ¢aprtal expendilure. Given the continuing uncertainlie5 in the
economic outlook those plans a￿ shelved ￿lte we consider whal levels of practical and financial support
members of the organlsation may require over the ngxt 12 months.
