South West Golden Retriever Rescue Trust Trustees, Annual Report Year ended 31 De¢omber 2023 Th8 trustees present their report and the unaudited financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 December 2023. Trustees Report Thls Charity was foTmed in 2003 and operates within the tems specified in the Declaration of Trust dated 8th September. There are currenuy 3 Trustee5. namely Penelope Gillian Beauchamp, Richard Edw8rd Dean and Carol Ann Dean. The slated aim of the Charity as set out in the Declaration of Trust is lo relieve the suffering and distress of Golden Relrlever dogs, bltches and puppies who are in need of care and attention or bècause they have been abandoned, neglected or mislrealed by the provision of Gare, treatment, shelter, rehabllilalion and re-housing. Thls has been our aim Sin the formation of the Charity. Since the lockdowns in 2020 the need for Rescue has been greatly reduced. This is due to the following reasons:_ 1. The number of litters of Golden Retrievers being registered at the Kennel Club has greatly decreased over the last 3 years and this has led to fewer dogs needing new homes. 2. The fewer numbers of puppies avallaNe has led lo an increase In the prtce charged for puppies and this has meant that people. when they decide to rehome their dog, want to sell them and not to grve them to Rescue organisalions to rehome. There are now a large number Df inl8met siles that are available lo use lo sell dogs. This is not just something that we, as a Charity have experienced, Golden Retriever Reglonal Breed Clubs around the country have experienced a lack of demand for the services th81 they have traditionally supplied in their areas. We have kept the Charity going as we still maintsin a responslbilily for all the dogs that we have rehomed in the past, however the numb8TS of dogs that we feel responsibility for has dwindled so that there are now only a handful still allve.
