OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Objecves and aims

reviewing our aims and objecves and in planning our future acvies. In parcular the trustees consider how planned acvies will contribute to the aims and objecves they have set. We are very sasfied that all we do is for the public

Charitable Objects

Lighthouse Homes seeks to relieve poverty and advance the educaon of persons, parcularly those who are homeless, with the provision of accommodaon, facilies for preparing and eang meals, clothing, advice, support and educaonal courses, and other services calculated to relieve their needs, within a faith inspired framework.

and values and seeks to advance the Chrisan Faith.

Values

Our aims and objecves can be summarised as helping to create a safe place called home by providing stability, dignity, friendship, purpose and a plan. We are commied to providing a place of change and this requires our residents to demonstrate how they are making progress against agreed goals. We seek to provide a place of safety and respect, which is at the heart of the community and linked to local opportunies, including those provided by faith communies.

Lighthouse Homes strives to be an equal opportunies organisaon in all aspects of our work. We do not tolerate fear, violence, abuse, bullying, discriminaon or exploitaon and adhere to a clear safeguarding policy guiding our pracce. Our staff are trained in safeguarding pracce and are all DBS checked. We welcome residents from all backgrounds regardless of race, religion, culture or sexual orientaon.

The trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what acvies the charity should undertake.

STRATEGIC REPORT

Using our accommodaon, Lighthouse Homes works with men and women who have experienced homelessness from a variety of backgrounds who need a safe place to call home. Many of our residents have lived lives of chaos and addicon. At Lighthouse Homes we aim to address the root causes of these addicons and connect our residents with the provision they need to aid recovery. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs and alcohol, where residents commit themselves to change and growth when they are with us. Our work makes a major contribuon to homelessness, addicon, and crime prevenon in the areas in which we operate. We are connually working to improve the quality of our provision across the four projects, raising standards, moving to single room accommodaon with ensuite facilies where possible.

Report of the Trustees for the Year Ended 31 March 2025

All our projects are a place of stability, safety, hope and change, a place in which those caught up in the storms of life can find acceptance, healing, and restoraon.

We provide in-house support groups, pastoral care sessions, recreaonal acvies and other key areas of support that deal with the oen complex and deep-rooted issues at the heart of homelessness. Our aim is to see all residents engaged in purposeful dayme acvity, through our 10 hours plus programme. We have a structure in Lighthouse that enables residents to turn their lives around. The outcome is a posive impact on the local community with less crime, rough sleeping, and hopelessness.

Connecons with many community services allows us to provide a broad range of training/volunteering opportunies open to the residents, such as cooking sessions, computer skills, guitar lessons, creave wring classes, gardening and singing.

support them in demonstrang and pracsing skills which will help them secure future employment. Interns also play a valuable role in supporng staff to set a posive and engaged culture within each house. Many of our residents describe Lighthouse as their "family" and we are delighted to have employed a number of former residents on temporary and permanent contracts.

We connue to be open to those of all faiths and none, and we encourage an environment where people feel free to talk about what they do or don't believe. However, at the heart of all that Lighthouse Homes does remains our Chrisan faith, with a commitment to show the love of God to every resident in a real and praccal way.

We have supported and guided several residents to discover, or rediscover their own faith at the Lighthouse, contribung to their wellbeing and growth. Oponal devoons are a part of our daily life and weekly services help to link with the local community and projects with similar purposes and appropriate church groups.

independence and stability. We see high numbers of residents move on to a range of posive housing opons, some back to partners and family, others into independent living and employment. We work to maximise our posive outcomes through move-on partnerships with other housing providers, public and private and rehabilitaon units.

Achievements and performance

We have a total of four projects, two in the Rotherham area, accommodang both men and women, one in Shirebrook Derbyshire and one in Brimington Chesterfield. We offer 116 beds across our projects to men and women in need of accommodaon, also offering care, support, and supervision within a 24/7 supervised environment. During the year we provided a home for 279 men and women.

relaonships between our project staff and referral partners. However, we are also mindful that the cost of living crisis is pushing more people into homelessness, and the strain on the network of services which need to work together to support people with complex and individual needs.

taken two key steps to strengthen this. We have launched a training sabbacal programme for our Managers and Senior Support Workers, giving them periodic me away from day to day responsibilies to undertake individualised learning. We have also refreshed and standardised our core training programme for all staff roles, making use of technology to improve the training experience and ease of record keeping.

The financial reporng framework that has been applied in their preparaon is applicable law and United Kingdom Accounng Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounng Pracce).

Basis for opinion

We conducted our audit in accordance with Internaonal Standards on Auding (UK) (ISAs (UK)) and applicable law. Our responsibilies under those standards are further described in the Auditors' responsibilies for the audit of the financial statements secon of our report. We are independent of the charitable company in accordance with the ethical requirements that are relevant to our audit of the financial statements in the UK, including the FRC's Ethical Standard, and we have fulfilled our other ethical responsibilies in accordance with these requirements. We believe that the audit evidence we have obtained is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our opinion.

that, individually or collecvely, may cast significant doubt on the charitable company's ability to connue as a going concern for a period of at least twelve months from when the financial statements are authorised for issue.

Our responsibilies and the responsibilies of the trustees with respect to going concern are described in the relevant secons of this report.

Other informaon

The trustees are responsible for the other informaon. The other informaon comprises the informaon included in the Annual Report, other than the financial statements and our Report of the Independent Auditors thereon.

explicitly stated in our report, we do not express any form of assurance conclusion thereon.

so, consider whether the other informaon is materially inconsistent with the financial statements or our knowledge obtained in the audit or otherwise appears to be materially misstated. If we idenfy such material inconsistencies or apparent material misstatements, we are required to determine whether this gives rise to a material misstatement in the financial statements themselves. If, based on the work we have performed, we conclude that there is a material misstatement of this other informaon, we are required to report that fact. We have nothing to report in this regard.

Opinions on other maers prescribed by the Companies Act 2006

In our opinion, based on the work undertaken in the course of the audit:

Page 8

Maers on which we are required to report by excepon

In the light of the knowledge and understanding of the charitable company and its environment obtained in the course of the audit, we have not idenfied material misstatements in the Report of the Trustees.

We have nothing to report in respect of the following maers where the Companies Act 2006 requires us to report to you if, in our opinion:

Responsibilies of trustees

As explained more fully in the Statement of Trustees' Responsibilies, the trustees (who are also the directors of the charitable company for the purposes of company law) are responsible for the preparaon of the financial statements and for being sasfied that they give a true and fair view, and for such internal control as the trustees determine is necessary to enable the preparaon of financial statements that are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error.

material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error, and to issue a Report of the Independent Auditors that includes our opinion. Reasonable assurance is a high level of assurance, but is not a guarantee that an audit conducted in accordance with ISAs (UK) will always detect a material misstatement when it exists. Misstatements can arise from fraud or error and are considered material if, individually or in the aggregate, they could reasonably be expected to influence

The extent to which our procedures are capable of detecng irregularies, including fraud is detailed below:

Our assessment of the suscepbility to material misstatement, whether by fraud or error, is made in a risk based approach.

In this approach, laws and regulaons applicable to the enty, such as the Companies Act 2006, United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounng Pracce including Financial Reporng Standard 102, Accounng and Reporng by Charies: Statement of Recommended Pracce applicable to charies, the relevant tax compliance regulaons within the UK, employment law, and Health and Safety law is considered, and the policies and controls the enty has in place to comply with these laws are reviewed, by discussion, reviews of correspondence and registraons monitored by external bodies. The engagement team remained alert to any indicaons of fraud or non-compliance with laws and regulaons throughout the audit.

Policies and controls relang to the risk of material misstatement as a result of fraud are also considered. These are assessed by obtaining an understanding of the charity's operaons and control environment. The policies and controls have been reviewed by discussion, review and sample tesng of accounng entries, challenging assumpons and judgements, reviewing and evaluang related pares transacons, and wider background searches.
