the supplemental Deed dated 25 September 2(K13. The Charity w&s forn)ed to raise
funds and sponsorship for the advancement of the educalion of children in The Garnbia
of infant and primary school age and the adV￿cernent of aduk education and literacy in
The Gambia.

The school in The Gambia opened 6 January 2003 with a class of 30 children.
Fundraising enabled the Charity to build three separate classroom blocks and a hall.
Th¢ total ￿$t of the four building5 was £101.313 and enables us to offer free edurAtion
to children from 5-16 years.
We also pay fea8 for 3 years for any of our students who obtain a place at Sfflior SchLN)I.
This year we have received a few donations tha¢ ate to bc used to help any of our students who
managed to get a place at UniveTsity. We helped 2 student with ftts of £1020 approx..
We have continued our Tnaintenanee programme of the buildings.
We had to do intensive Tcpairs on one of our eess pits ￿]Ch had been damaged by rats.
We have ontinued updated OUT electric￿ system. We are also replacing gla83 in the windows with
laminated gla&s as a safety rne&8ure.
Finaneial Review
During the year ended 31 May 2021, sponsorship raised £28445 (2020: £29871).
Wc receivcd in donation this Ye￿ £3286.89 which meanl that our donations, fundraising and
gift aid provided another £7470.03 (2020 ..£34650 which included a donation of £30000)
We transferred £37538.42 to The Gambia and spent £1187 from goo(Ls shipped out to the Sch￿1.
The dirccl expcnses and ovetheads of numlng the school came to £37538.42 (2020: £33868).
thi5 included 33 pupils we have sponsored this year at Senior Sccondary School and 2 at University
The Hardship Fund expenses were £222 this year. The money from this is being used to help
very disadvantaged pupils with f￿)d at lunch times and medical expenses
Due to COVID 19 the school w&8 lockdown for severnl months and ¢xtra expenses were incurred
to comply with The Gambia rules

Reserves Policy
The TTUStees have examined th¢ Charity's requirements for reserves fft light of the main
risks to the QTganisation. It has established a policy whereby the unrestricted funds held
by the Charity should be six months of the tothl exp¢nditwe on school Nnfting costs
which is approximat¢ly £21000.
PlaDS for Thtsre Periods
Due to covid 19 there will be some on going expenses which we havc made allowgnces for.
From S¢pt¢mber 2021 the number of children on the register will be 360. This does not
include pupils who have done well in this ycarfs Grade 9 National Exams who we will
continue to fund at Senior Secondary school for three years. At present we are also funding
33 such pupils.
We are planning to continue to r¢newing old text books and buy additional r&sour¢e's.
We are also continuing major maintenance work on the buildings.
We are cimtinuing with our Univeftsity programme and will be sponsoring at least 2 new students at
University this coming year.
The Charity is actively seeking further swnsorship donations which will enable
the sch(K)I to continue educating pupils to Senior Level and for continuing th¢
maintenanc¢ of the buildtngs .

l. Aeeountin8 Policies
The principal accounting policies are summarised below. The ￿OUnting policies
have b¢cn applied ronsistently throughout the ye* and in the pre¢eding year.
(a) BAsi4 of ac¢onntkng
The fU￿1¢Ial statements are prepared under the historical cost cOnV￿tion in
accordance with appltcable accounting 5tandard& the Statement of
Recommended Practice: Accout)ting and Reporttng by Charities issued in
March 2005 and the Charllics Act 2011.
Ib) Incoming resources
All incoming resources are included in the statement of fttwicial artivTties when
the Charity is entitled to the income and the amount Can be qvantified with
reasonable accuracy. The following specific policics are applied to particular
categories of income:
Voluntary income is received by way of 8raTts, donations and gifts and is
included in fiill in the Statement of Financial Activities when receivable.
Donated services and facilities are included at the value to the Charity where
this can be quantified, The value of services provided by volunteers h&8 nol
been included in these accounts.
Investhient income is included when receivable.
{c) Ro8ourees Expended
Expenditure is recognised on an a¢¢n￿] basTrs as a liability is incurred.
Expenditure includes any VAT which cannot be fully recovered, and is reported
as p&rt of the expenditure to which it ￿lat¢S..
Costs of generating funds comprise the Costs asso¢iat¢d with attracting
voluntary income.
Charltable expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the Char&ty in the
d¢liv¢ry of its activities and services for its beneflciaries. It includes both
cO￿S that can be allocated directly to such activities and those costs of an
indirect nature nece￿ary to SUPPOrt them.
Governan¢¢ costs include those costs ￿ocIated with meeting the
constitutional and statutory requirements of the Charity.
All costs are allocated between the expenditure categories of the SOFA on a
basis designed to reflect the use of the resource. All costs are allocated
dir¢Gtiy.

8. Transfer to The Gambivd
Thc Charity regularly transf¢rs funds to The Gambta to pay for education of the
children and maintenance of the school. The recipient of the transferred funds is The
Don Mcmath Foundation which is incorporated as a charitable company in Th¢
Gambia. The accounts for The Gambia show the transfers from the UK as being

9. Gifts in Kind
Gifts in kind include second hand books. computer equipment and writing matsrials,
all for the use of the Charity. The value of these items is not material and not included
in the financial statements.
