The Charity also networks with the Poli￿, NHS, Counryl and oiher local organisations to facilitate
Communication of tsrgeted messages and engagement to benefrt ￿th the community and these
organisalions.
A key tenet of the Sikh religK)n ts to pray for and help wth the welfare of all those suffering misfortune
and destituts'on. The Charity members have actively raised around £3,000 each year for Epilepsy UK
through a sponsored walk over many years befo￿ Covid. We intend to Commen￿ similarty
supporting other charities in Ihe next year or I￿0.
In addrtion, members donate cbthes on an ongoing basis for Khalsa which is a Charity that
distributes these to all parts of the world as needed to help those in povety. The Charity and its
members also donate fo(xl to the Peterb)rough Soup Kitchen. The Charity also will from time to time
make contribubons from its funds to support other Chanties engaged in re￿ue and support operations
for disaster relief.
Several students gained GCSE from our Sunday Punjabi School. Pupil numters average around 30
and three ex￿lIent teachers are using modem teaching rnethods with good feedback from parents.
A safeguarding policy for Sunday school children has tr￿n reviewed and ftjrther developed. For the
security of the public CCTV cameras have been upgraded to allow 24-hour high-quality remote
monrfcoring and recording. The fire alarm has been serviced, overhauled and enhanced.

An ongoing Pest control contract is in pla￿ to ensure excellent levels of hygiene in the kitchen and
dining areas where food is stored, prepared and setved.
During the second half of 2021. the Covid crisi5 was subsiding and govemment restrictions were
being eased. The Trustees initiated the processes for electing a new Executive Committee in the
summer and that was concluded in September 2021.
A very able team with fresh faces coming with a wde range of eXper￿ft￿ were enrolled into the new
Committee. It was decided that the elected Committee would seNe until June 2024 $0 that we bring
the electoral process back into alignment wrth the pr￿sS existing before Covid.
Efforts have been made to increase religious events in the Gurdwara as demanded by the members.
Also. more English-speaking sermons are being introduced for the benefit of the younger generation.
The Trustees are very happy to report that the existing Committee has embraced their dub.es
much energy and ￿nduCtS daily management of the day-t{￿aY activities of the Gurdwara with
diligence.
Opening of the Sunday Punjabi School is ba(* to nonnal after Covid. In 2023 all five students
studying for GCSE Punjabi gained top grades.
Work continued with the Nene Park Trust to plant more trees towards our target of 550 along the bank
of river Nene. A placard displaying Guru Nanak Lane has ￿en erected on srte.
Two planting events are held each year in February and November.
The balance sheet of the Gurdwara remains strong as no maj'or expense was incurred last year. We
work to control running costs through volunteers.
The Charity's Challenges and Future Fo¢us
1. Core O
erational Activltles Finance Outreach HSE and Buildin
Securi
The Charty will continue to make efforts tr) attract members of the younger generation. This will be
done by holding religious programmes targeting that audien￿ and also hold activities in our hall for
their participation. Our plan will atso indude holding Sikhi camps hosted by recognised speakers.
Punjabi and Sikh History education as well as kirtan and gatka wll continue to be offered to children
and teenagers. In addition. activities involving physical exercise e.g., Ix)xing etc is being offered
during the evenings.
We will also continue to work wtth Nene Park Trust to plant more trees toward our tsrgel of 550. The
planting area has been marked with a plaque explaining the basic tenets of Sikhism and provide an
attractive place for visitors. The planting lane along the Nene River bank has been named Guru
Nanak Lane. The Plaque unveiling ￿remonY was conduded in August 2022 which involved
attendan￿ by many dignitaries.
We ￿11 wntinue to strengthen our fInan￿S and contml expenditu￿ thnxigh only neGessary spending
forthe welkbeing of ourworshippers.
The HSE and safeguarding processes is being further tuned vrith clear ownership and ongoing focus
on key metrics and their monitoring.
An enhanced Safeguarding process is in pla￿ with the Headmistress of the Punjabi School being the
single point of accountability.
More awareness and training are required on both above pr￿eS￿s.

The security at the premises has been Turther enhan<*d through a new intruder alam system.
Tre existing CCTV and sound systems in the main Divan Hall will be reviewed and updated in the
coming year.
2. Election of New Committee
A new Committee will be elected from June 2023 to tun for tsvo years. Nominations will be invited
from mid-April onwards with a closing date of Sunday 26m May. New Committee to be annoUn￿d on
Sunday 16th June 2024.
3. Succession Plannin
Our main challenge for the next two year5 is sU￿Ssion planning for our key religious workers and
Priest. Existing religious workers are approaching end of their working lrfe and suitable repla￿rnents
are not available locally or nationally. Our plan is to appty for a sponsorship licence from the Home
offi￿ for such workers. This work will start in 2024 for completion and implementation in 2025.The
aim will to attract suitably qualified religious workers from India for periods of tsvo years at a time.
We will also look at building a self-contained extension to the Gurdwara premises to accommodate
these religious workers in 2024. We believe this is the long-term solution for having in Pla￿ suitably
qualified religious workers on an ongoing basis.
4. In Summa
The emphasi$ will be on srn¢￿th operational wnning through enhancedpmcesses.
attracting the younger mernbe￿ of the community. enrolling. retaining and managing our
volunteers with support
Election of a suitable new Committee in June 2024 for a twopyear temi, as per the
constitution, to manage day to day activities is key forsmooth operations
HSE and Safeguarding will Continue to be a key area of focus for the well-being of all our
worshippers and children attending the Sunday School
Building ourfinan¢es through judicious expenditure control and improving income by
increasing attendance and progTrms.
Succession planning for the continuity of key religious woFlrets thmugh sponsorship will
