**Hinton St George School PFA Annual Report** For the 2021 AGM

Hinton St George Primary School and St George’s Pre School Parent & Friends Association (PFA) is a charity which is run by a committee elected each year at the Annual General Meeting. Our PFA is a small, but very active committee. We have had a very strange year due to the Covid Restrictions which have some what stifled our efforts this year, however it has not dampened spirits and we hope we can go with the flow and keep up with changing challenging times for the few months ahead.

The treasurer's report will provide us with a detailed breakdown, but in summary this year we've managed to raise for the PFA £ 2,731.49 which is amazing!

The committee currently consists of a Chair, Vice-Chair, a Secretary and Treasurer. There are also committee members, made up from parent members, as well as a teacher/head representative.

The main activity of the PFA has been the organisation of fundraising events, and social events to further relationships between the pupils, teachers and parents.

Of the money raised by the PFA over the last year the money will be invested in a variety of ways, some examples of this are:

- The class fund

- The book scheme

- Class workshops

- Pantomime trips

- Leavers hoodies

Proposed fundraising projects for this year will be shared with you each term and updates available regularly on our Facebook page, so keep an eye out!

Our PFA calendar was going to be jam packed again this past year, with our usual traditional annual events. However we were unable to run Slay the Dragon 10km, Christmas shopping evening, Easter and Summer bingo , woodlands

However we did manage to run Hinton’s Big Day Out I was blown away with how many hands made light work at the Hinton Big Day Out, there was such a positive vibe on that day I know we are going to be able to emulate this at future events. We also had some online quizzes, the fish

tank outside school, the matchbox challenge we all innovative ways of raising money.

Aside from these events we have also organised the School Uniform shop (thanks to Poppy) Cash in the Attic (thanks to Gail), Amazon and Easy fund raising the online platforms that give us a percentage of their sales when a parent shops with them.

## **Membership**

Like a lot of voluntary organisations, the PFA has struggled over the years with membership. The members we have, have given up a lot of time and effort to make sure that the events go ahead. Along with the support from the school staff, who give up their free time to help us. We always welcome new faces, ideas and support so please speak with a committee member if you can contribute in any way. Whatever time you can give, the PFA can use, whether it's helping out at daytime events with refreshments, or evenings at the discos - we welcome you all. Just one thing makes all the difference to our events and ultimately benefits your children!

## **Thank You**

I would like to express thanks to all the parents and families who have supported and participated in our events so generously and enthusiastically – without your participation, there is no PFA.

Also, thanks go to all those local businesses that continue to support our fundraising efforts year on year with very generous donations. Those affiliated with the School and otherwise, there are too many to list here and I would hate to miss anyone out.

Lastly, thanks to all staff at the school, who've helped make our events possible, many of whom have given their own time, a special thank you must go to all the ladies in the office for their help with all the extra work we create for them.

## **Future Vision**

I hope we continue to be a warm and welcoming organisation that all families feel they are apart of. We are constantly evolving with a combination of old and new events. A positive to be taken away from this year is how we have been flexible and creative during challenging times. I hope we can continue to grow our ideas and not just be about raising

more and more money but also about creating events for the parents and children to enjoy.

Looking to the new year, I hope as restrictions continue to be raised we are be able to hold some additional exciting events that not only raise money but bring the school community together so we can continue to support all those that have children in school and the wider community.
