## **Hinton St George School PFA Annual Report**

For the 2020 AGM

Hinton St George Primary School and St George’s Pre School Parent & Friends Association (PFA) is a charity which is run by a committee elected each year at the Annual General Meeting. Our PFA is a small, but very active committee. We have had a very strange year due to the Covid Restrictions which have some what stifled our efforts this year, however it has not dampened spirits and we hope we can go with the flow and keep up with changing challenging times for the few months ahead.

The treasurer's report will provide us with a detailed breakdown, but in summary this year we've managed to raise £1400 which is amazing!

The committee currently consists of a Chair, Vice-Chair, a Secretary and Treasurer. There are also committee members, made up from parent members, as well as a teacher/head representative.

The main activity of the PFA has been the organisation of fundraising events, and social events to further relationships between the pupils, teachers and parents.

Of the money raised by the PFA over the last year around £ 10,519 of this fund has been invested in a variety of ways, some examples of this are:

- The class fund

- The book scheme

- Class workshops to make a mosaic

- Christmas pantomime trip

- Playground surface

- Fixed the stage at the field

- Paid for the leavers hoodies

- Welcome tea party 2019

- Paid for 3 years purple mash membership

Proposed fundraising projects for this year will be shared with you each term and updates available regularly on our Facebook page, so keep an eye out!

Our PFA calendar was going to be jam packed again this past year, with our usual traditional annual events. However we were unable to run Slay the Dragon 10km, Summer event, Farewell BBQ, Welcome tea party, Christmas, Easter and Summer bingo 

However before lockdown we did manage to run a few events;

Village Fete - £200.70 Glow Disco - £101.90

Christmas shopping evening - £369 Quiz - £286.86

Among these events we have also organised the School Uniform shop (thanks to Poppy) Cash in the Attic (thanks to Gail) and Easy fund raising and online platform.

Looking to the new year, the PFA have a big challenge ahead to help raise funds for the re location of the Pre school to the field and re modelling of the staff room into a third classroom. This is going to need some creativity and thinking outside the box to raise money whilst complying with current ever changing restrictions.

## **Membership**

Like a lot of voluntary organisations, the PFA has struggled over the years with membership. The members we have, have given up a lot of time and effort to make sure that the events go ahead. Along with the support from the school staff, who give up their free time to help us. We always welcome new faces, ideas and support so please speak with a committee member if you can contribute in any way. Whatever time you can give, the PFA can use, whether it's helping out at daytime events with refreshments, or evenings at the discos - we welcome you all. Just one thing makes all the difference to our events and ultimately benefits your children!

## **Thank You**

I would like to express thanks to all the parents and families who have supported and participated in our events so generously and enthusiastically – without your participation, there is no PFA. Also, thanks go to all those local businesses that continue to support our fundraising efforts year on year with very generous donations. Those affiliated with the School and otherwise, special thanks to

Finally, thanks to all staff at the school, who've helped make our events possible, many of whom have given their own time, a special thank you must go to all the ladies in the office for their help with all the extra work we create for them.
