Thank you all for taking the time this evening to support our Annual General meeting. Review of 2022/23
Until my appointment in July, Little Bears sought to appoint a Chairperson. I am delighted to have taken on the role and look forward to collaborating with each of you to continue the preschool’s legacy of excellence and care.
I would like to offer a special thanks to the committee and all the Little Bears staff for continuing to keep the preschool moving forward without a named Chair, particularly Jane who stood in as staff liaison.
Throughout this year, we welcomed new children into our pre-school community while bidding farewell to those moving on to new adventures. We managed closures and navigated challenges with resilience, ensuring the safety and well-being of our children remained our top priority. Specific details regarding enrolment, departures, and closures will be outlined in our complete operational report.
For the last year and half we were actively looking for an additional member of staff, going through the safer recruitment process to provide additional cover. In January this year we were delighted when Mica joined the team as a Practitioner.
During the year, Shirley has worked single handed on two fundraisers for the preschool. We would like to thank Shirley for all her dedication to Little Bears for the last 17 years as both a trustee and for her continued involvement until the end of this academic year. As we look to the future, we hope more parents will become involved with fundraising for Little Bears.
Plans for 2023/24
Looking ahead, the Trustees have outlined four key priorities for the upcoming year:

Supporting Our Staff : Our dedicated team is the backbone of Little Bears. We aim to provide comprehensive support to ensure they continue delivering exceptional childcare.

Recruitment Initiative : We aim to recruit another staff member to enhance our capabilities.

Advertising and Promotion : Investing in advertising and marketing strategies will amplify our reach, attracting more families to join our Little Bears community.

Parental Involvement : We will be encouraging parents to join our committee to help to support Little Bears and to enrich the pre-school experience for everyone involved.
Conclusion
On behalf of the Trustees, I extend heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of Little Bears this year. Your dedication, support and collaborative spirit have been instrumental in creating a nurturing environment for our children to thrive.
Looking forward, we reaffirm our commitment to the ongoing management and growth of Little Bears. We invite input, ideas, and active participation from the committee and parents - your efforts are what make our pre-school the wonderful place it is.
